Model Alex Consani Frees the Nipple in Sheer Met Gala 2026 Look

Alex Consani left little to the imagination at the 2026 Met Gala.

The model made a statement at the “Costume Art” benefit on May 4th, wearing a daring Gucci gown designed by Demna. The dress included a see-through, skin-toned corset and a dramatic black feathered skirt, and she chose to go braless, revealing her nipples.

Alex finished their outfit with a white cape, inspired by the 15th-century painting “Primavera” by Sandro Botticelli, to fit the Met Gala’s “Fashion Is Art” theme. (You can see photos of all the stars at the Met Gala here.)

Alex explained to Vogue that she and Demna quickly aligned on the design direction, sharing inspiration and discussing the overall vibe they were aiming for. Demna immediately started working on it. During the fitting for his first collection, Alex shared her vision, and he was very open to bringing it to life.

The 22-year-old explained that Demna drew inspiration from Chloris, the goddess of flowers and spring, for the outfit. This transformation was complete when Alex removed her white cape at the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Alex described her dress as a transformation from ‘white swan to black swan.’ She felt instantly different, even comparing herself to actresses Natalie Portman and Tilda Swinton, saying the gown gave her an ‘actress energy.’

She was deeply honored to wear a design from the Italian fashion house for this special occasion – being the first transgender woman on the Met Gala’s host committee.

She explained that the clothing feels empowering, like it helps you become a better version of yourself. She added that Demna allows the models to showcase their unique personalities.

She wasn’t just attending the Costume Institute benefit; she was also part of the hosting team, alongside Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.

And the chance to play a part in fashion’s biggest night was incredibly important to Alex.

She expressed immense gratitude on Instagram on May 4th, thanking everyone who helped make her hosting gig at the Met Gala a reality. She called it a huge honor to be the first transgender woman to host the event and shared her deep appreciation to those who turned her dream into reality.
