Marvel’s tradition of including scenes after the credits started with Kevin Feige, a lifelong movie fan. He remembers always staying to watch the credits, just in case something extra appeared. His mom did the same, enjoying reading all the names of the people who worked on the film. Feige loved the anticipation of wondering if there might be a hidden scene, even though most of the time there wasn’t!
Interestingly, Marvel’s Phase 6 TV shows have stopped using post-credits scenes. While viewers initially thought the animated series Eyes of Wakanda and Marvel Zombies didn’t have them due to the format, the live-action show Wonder Man also skipped the tradition, signaling a change for MCU TV. Now, Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again has continued this trend, with Marvel deciding to leave out post-credits scenes altogether.
Marvel’s Post-Credits Scenes Have Changed Meaning

Post-credit scenes in Marvel movies began as a playful extra feature, but they soon became much more important. While many were funny, fans really paid attention to the scenes that hinted at future storylines – like the first appearances of Thanos, Thor meeting Doctor Strange, or Nick Fury recruiting Tony Stark. These scenes initially created excitement and kept the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward. However, recently, this constant build-up to future events has begun to feel like a burden for the franchise.
Those extra scenes after the credits used to be a fun way to hint at future movies, especially when big connected universes were really popular. But now that audiences are less focused on how everything ties together, those scenes feel less exciting and more like a distraction. People mostly just want to enjoy the movie they’re watching, so these post-credit teases are starting to lose their impact.
Filming for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is underway, and pictures from the set are revealing quite a few details. However, Marvel seems determined to let the ending of Season 2 resonate with viewers. They want it to feel conclusive and meaningful. Both Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk have undergone significant changes, with their true selves now public knowledge, and they’re both facing the consequences. The ending of Season 2 is meant to feel definitive, and adding a post-credits scene would undermine that, so Marvel made the smart choice to leave one out.
