Dr. Todd, played by Caroline Harker, is taking a huge risk in Emmerdale. Her long-running scheme to manipulate Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant) is now falling apart.
She keeps sending mixed signals to the medic, sometimes making him feel like he’ll never become a doctor, and other times suggesting she’s completely on board with his career goals.
Jacob learned from HR that he wasn’t the only one experiencing issues with Todd’s behavior. Several coworkers had also considered filing complaints. This seemed like a good chance to address the problem and potentially take action against her.
Meanwhile, across the hospital, a shocking secret was revealed. Todd discovered that the baby Charity Dingle was carrying for Sarah Sugden and Jacob wasn’t biologically theirs.
Charity had a short-term relationship with her former partner, Ross Barton, and this child was the result. She’s kept the pregnancy a secret ever since.

Todd took Charity aside and subtly brought up that Jacob and baby Leyla have incompatible blood types, implying Jacob couldn’t be the father. Their conversation was interrupted by Mack, but Todd came back later to press Charity for more information.
I remember Charity acting all innocent, pretending she didn’t know what Leyla was talking about. Leyla explained that her blood type is O, but I knew Jacob’s was AB – we’d all given blood at The Hide a few weeks back, and I distinctly remembered his type being called out.
Todd tried to blackmail Charity, offering to stay quiet about something if Charity would convince Jacob to withdraw his HR complaint against her. Luckily, Charity was able to persuade Todd to think about their daughter, Leyla, instead of pursuing this demand.
Todd has been subtly mentioning how similar Leyla looks to Jacob, carefully testing to see if she’ll reveal the secret he’s trying to hide.
Today on the show, Jacob had an awkward interaction with Todd. Afterwards, Todd suggested to Sarah that her husband was eager to go back to work, even though he’s currently on leave with their new baby.

Sarah was understandably angry with what Jacob had said and went to confront him. He was equally furious and rushed to The Woolpack to find her. He stormed into the restrooms and started yelling at her, not realizing it was a setup and that Vanessa Woodfield had caught him in the act.
This seemed to confirm Todd’s belief that Jacob was fixated on her. Vanessa was curious about what was happening, and their disagreement was overheard by Sarah.
Sarah also needed to talk things through, and during a very emotional conversation, Jacob started crying. He finally told her everything about the harassment he’d been experiencing from Todd, and he felt relieved when Sarah vowed to support him and help him put an end to it.
Could their intervention lead to Charity’s baby secret being exposed?
