After achieving a major milestone, Yacht Club Games has confirmed that Mina the Hollower will be released on May 29th. The game will cost $19.99 and will be playable on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
The team behind the popular game Shovel Knight has been working on this for a while. Originally planned to release on October 31st, it was postponed to allow for further refinement. Yacht Club Games said the delay wouldn’t be significant, but looking back, that might not have been entirely true.
The extra development time makes sense, as the studio is determined to make this game a hit. According to an interview with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, they had to make tough choices, including letting some employees go and temporarily stopping work on a 3D Shovel Knight game, to give Mina the Hollower the attention it deserves.
I’m really excited about this project! It started as a Kickstarter back in 2022, but it’s become so much more than anyone expected. Now it’s got a huge overworld and feels like a full-blown RPG. We don’t know exactly how big it’s going to be yet, but honestly, I think it might even surpass Shovel Knight in scope! I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more news and updates.
