Dr. Caitlin Todd’s behavior in Emmerdale continues to be problematic, and Jacob Sugden is still struggling with difficult issues.
She keeps sending mixed signals to the medic, first making him doubt his ability to become a doctor, and then acting like she’s completely on board with his career goals. It’s a really confusing pattern.
Jacob learned from HR that he wasn’t the only one experiencing issues with Todd’s behavior. Several coworkers had also considered filing complaints. This seemed like a good chance to address the situation and potentially resolve the problem.
Meanwhile, across the hospital, a dramatic secret was revealed. Todd discovered that Charity Dingle’s baby, who Sarah Sugden and Jacob believed was theirs, wasn’t actually related to them.
She forced Charity to convince Jacob to withdraw his complaint. He agreed, deciding it was more important to focus on his baby, Leyla.

Earlier this week, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) accidentally heard a fight between Todd and Jacob. The conversation seemed to prove Todd’s accusations that Jacob was fixated on Vanessa. She was determined to find out what was happening, and Sarah happened to overhear their disagreement.
Sarah also needed answers from Jacob, and during a very emotional conversation, he confessed everything. She encouraged him to file a formal complaint, understanding that the harassment wouldn’t end when he came back from his leave as a new father.
Today, he went to Hotten General to see if he could reopen the case. Unfortunately, he learned that Todd had submitted a lot of evidence against him and also filed her own report.
She had also gathered several voice recordings, claiming they showed he was trying to frighten her.
He was extremely upset, fearing he’d lose his medical training and placement. The representative reassured him that they would follow the proper procedures, and hopefully, things wouldn’t end that way.
Furious, he rushed to Tug Ghyll to confront her. He put his phone in his back pocket, intending to document her unkind behavior and prove she was being cruel, mirroring her own tactics.
For a brief time, it looked like his strategy might succeed. He requested she take back what she said, but Todd simply mocked her, accusing her of embellishing the truth and calling her statement entertaining to read.

“The truth only matters if people believe it,” she asserted.
“Nobody believes you Jacob, nobody that matters.”
Jacob accused her of ruining his life, and Todd responded with a dismissive remark, implying she’d enjoyed it. She then attacked his ambitions, telling him he lacked the intelligence, strength, and drive to ever become a doctor.
She went on, saying, “You’re helpless and fragile, and honestly, you’re not the only one I’ve seen like this. I probably won’t be the last either. I might even be getting some satisfaction out of it—it’s like watching something easily break.”
She confronted him directly, poking him in the chest with her finger. Then, she snatched his phone from his pocket and erased the recording. Todd told him to leave, and he responded by yelling angrily in the street.
Will Jacob ever be able to stop the villain?
