The animated sitcom Alley Cats, created by Ricky Gervais, will premiere on Netflix this summer.
This six-episode comedy follows a diverse group of wild British cats as they navigate daily life and search for connection with each other.
Gervais stars in the show with many of his frequent co-stars from ‘After Life,’ such as Tom Basden, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Diane Morgan, Jo Hartley, Andrew Brooke, and Tony Way.
Natalie Cassidy, known for her role in EastEnders, is joining the cast of this new project. She also has experience in comedy, having appeared in shows like Psychoville, Mandy, and Motherland.
Get ready! You’ll be able to watch Alley Cats on Netflix starting Friday, August 7, 2026.

Netflix says the new series will have the same blend of humor and insightful observations that Ricky Gervais is known for. It’s also his first animated project he’s created himself since ‘The Ricky Gervais Show’ ended in 2012.
The show was based on a popular podcast co-hosted by Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington. It presented segments from the podcast as animated shorts, with a visual style inspired by classic cartoons from Hanna-Barbera, like The Flintstones and Scooby-Doo.
Alley Cats is Ricky Gervais’s first big project in animated storytelling, aside from a guest appearance on The Simpsons in 2006. The animation is created by Blink Industries, who are also known for the show Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared.

The comedian is coming to the Annecy International Animation Festival in June. He’ll be part of a panel about a new project, and festival attendees will get a sneak peek at the first two episodes.
Earlier this year, Ricky Gervais told TopMob that reuniting with the cast of After Life for Alley Cats was an easy decision. He said he enjoyed working with them because he already knew and trusted them, and appreciated their talents, making the experience enjoyable.
