The new season for Battlefield 6 starts on May 12th. Before the launch, Electronic Arts highlighted the game’s success, reporting a record $8.026 billion in net bookings for the fiscal year – a nine percent increase compared to the previous year.
As a huge fan, I was really excited to hear how well Battlefield 6 did – apparently it was the most successful Battlefield game they’ve had in a year, breaking all sorts of records! The EA Sports FC games – FC 26, FC Online, and the mobile version – also saw a nice little bump in sales. And Apex Legends? It had its best quarter of the year in the last three months, which is awesome to see!
EA CEO Andrew Wilson reported a record fiscal year 2026, fueled by strong teamwork and careful planning. The successful launch of the latest Battlefield game was a key highlight. Wilson also noted the company recently completed a debt offering that attracted significant investor interest and is working positively with regulators, paving the way for a planned transaction and future growth opportunities.
Electronic Arts is doing well after being acquired by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners for $55 billion earlier this year. However, the launch of the latest Battlefield game hasn’t gone smoothly, with players reporting bugs, small maps, and aggressive in-game purchases. Adding to the issues, layoffs at the Battlefield studio seem particularly unfair given EA’s strong financial performance.
Season 3 will tackle player feedback with the new ‘Railway to Golmud’ map, inspired by the popular ‘Battlefield 4’ location. We’re also adding features players have been asking for, including naval combat – featuring the return of the classic Wake Island map – and a server browser. Keep an eye out for more details!
