In approximately two weeks, “King of the Hill” is preparing for the premiere of its revival season on Hulu, and it seems that some key characters will be played by new voices as the animated series enters a new phase. Originally airing on FOX, “King of the Hill” is making a comeback with a fresh set of episodes, fifteen years after its initial conclusion. The passage of time has left its mark on the characters, who have grown older, and changes have also occurred off-screen to ensure that the series remains relevant in today’s world. As part of this evolution, some voice actors have been replaced.
In the upcoming season of “King of the Hill,” some significant changes have been unveiled. For instance, Ronnie Chieng is now lending his voice to Kahn Souphanousaphone, a role previously played by Toby Huss. Moreover, two additional Laotian characters in the series are also receiving new voices for the revival. Ted and Chane Wassanasong have been cast for these roles, as confirmed by Indiewire. Here’s a sneak peek at their return, featuring both new and classic designs.
Who Voices Ted and Chane in King of the Hill Revival?
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! In the upcoming season 14 of “King of the Hill,” Ted Wassanasong, who was originally voiced by Toby Huss, will now be brought to life by Kenneth Choi, and his son Chane, previously voiced by Pamela Adlon, will now be voiced by Ki Hong Lee. Their return, as hinted in the promotional materials for the series, has certainly caught me off guard since Bobby wasn’t particularly close with Chane. However, during the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 panel for “King of the Hill,” we got some clarity on why these characters are making a comeback.
In Bobby’s present life, he works as a chef at the age of 21 in Dallas and owns the restaurant where he works. This resumes the rivalry between Bobby and Chane that started during their childhood, albeit with fewer real-world consequences. As adults, they are now engaged in more significant conflicts, setting the stage for an escalation when the new season begins.
King of the Hill’s New Revival Introduces New Voice Cast
In the revival of “King of the Hill,” many familiar faces from the original cast are returning, including Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom and others. However, some changes have been made for this new phase. For instance, Joseph Gribble, who was previously voiced by both Brittany Snow and Breckin Meyer, will now be voiced by Tai Leclaire. Additionally, Toby Huss is taking over the role of Dale Gribble following the passing of Johnny Hardwick.
In the upcoming season of King of the Hill, Jonathan Joss will reprise his role as John Redcorn’s voice, having recorded for his episodes prior to his passing. There are hints that tributes will be paid to both Joss and Hardwick in the forthcoming episodes. Additionally, Keith David is set to join the cast as a new character, Brian Robertson, who has been looking after the Hill family’s home while Hank and Peggy have been living abroad in Saudi Arabia.
