Marvel and DC heroes rarely appear in the same movies, but some actors have played roles in both universes. A good example is a 2007 fantasy film starring actors who went on to play Daredevil and Superman. Though largely overlooked, the movie is now available to stream on Peacock.
Before becoming known as the superheroes Daredevil and Superman, Charlie Cox and Henry Cavill appeared together in the 2007 fantasy film Stardust. Directed by Matthew Vaughn and featuring Claire Danes, Ricky Gervais, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert De Niro, the movie is adapted from Neil Gaiman’s novel, originally published as a comic by DC Comics. Though it didn’t get much attention when it came out alongside other big movies in 2007, Stardust is now available on Peacock. The story begins as a quest for love but evolves into a journey of self-discovery and finding true connection.
Stardust Is a Fantasy Hidden Gem
Stardust is a fantastic, lesser-known fantasy film. It follows Tristan Thorn, played by Cox, as he tries to win the heart of Victoria. After losing a challenge to her current love interest, Humphrey (Cavill), he enters a magical world to find a fallen star, hoping it will impress her. He soon discovers the ‘star’ is actually a woman being pursued by witches who want to stay young forever, and princes who want power. Tristan decides to protect her, and in the process, learns about his own family history and finds true love.
Stardust is a delightful fantasy film with everything you’d hope for: a captivating magical world called Stormhold, a sweet romance, and an exciting adventure. It feels like a fairytale crossed with a swashbuckling story, much like The Princess Bride, offering a perfect blend of romance, magic, and action. The movie excels at creating a believable and enchanting atmosphere, with imaginative sets that truly bring Stormhold to life. Highly rated by both critics (77% on Rotten Tomatoes) and audiences (86%), Stardust is a comforting and enjoyable fantasy that remains fun to watch again and again.
What’s New on Peacock?

Even more titles will be added throughout the month, including Wicked on May 21st.
