Major Shonen Jump Reboot Is Officially Streaming on Netflix After a Year

After almost 30 years, the popular manga series Hell Teacher Nube from Weekly Shonen Jump is getting a brand new anime adaptation! The original manga ran from 1993 to 1999 and remains beloved for its mix of spooky supernatural elements, comedy, and touching stories. While the manga continued with sequels – Hell Teacher Nube Neo and Hell Teacher Nube S (released in 2018) – the original anime only covered part of the story with 46 episodes (the manga has 279 chapters). Studio Kai officially announced the reboot in July 2024.

Hell Teacher Nube centers around Kyouzou Nube, a unique teacher at Doumoro Elementary. Despite seeming like a normal educator, Nube has a powerful, supernatural hand. This hand is cursed with the ability to exorcise, control, and communicate with spirits. He uses it to fight dangerous supernatural creatures—like ghosts and demons—that threaten his students, and he’s dedicated to keeping them safe.

Despite his duty to keep students safe, Nube imparts important life lessons, helping them overcome their fears and personal struggles. The story unfolds through individual cases or arcs, each centering on a new danger Nube shields his students from. It’s a compelling mix of exciting supernatural battles, memorable characters, heartfelt scenes, and fascinating glimpses into Japanese mythology.
