The sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, surprised readers with a heartbreaking development regarding Yuji Itadori, the main character from the original series. The initial story concluded in September 2024, and just a year later, the series returned with a new story set 68 years in the future, featuring a fresh cast of characters.
The world of Jujutsu Kaisen has changed significantly, with sorcerers generally being much weaker than before. While the original story boasted incredibly powerful sorcerers like Satoru Gojo, the new generation is struggling to find anyone who can match their strength. The sequel focuses on a conflict between sorcerers and the Simurians, a powerful alien race who sought refuge in Japan. After clashes between the two sides, the Jujutsu world desperately searched for someone capable of defeating Dabura. Unable to find a strong enough sorcerer, they turned to Yuka Okkotsu, a terminally ill teenager, to resolve the situation. This highlights the lack of truly powerful sorcerers, emphasizing the unique strength of Yuji Itadori. The final volume of the sequel confirms his power and gives him the recognition he deserved.
