Nintendo Switch 2 Has a New #1 Best-Selling Game for N64 Fans

A new Nintendo Switch 2 game is quickly becoming a bestseller on Amazon, offering players a nostalgic return to the classic Nintendo 64 experience. While Amazon doesn’t account for all Switch 2 sales – other stores and the Nintendo eShop also sell games – it’s the biggest retailer in the US, making its sales numbers a reliable indicator of overall market trends.

Currently, the most pre-ordered game for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 on Amazon in the United States is the remake of Star Fox 64, simply titled Star Fox. It’s impressive that it’s already number one even though it hasn’t been released yet! In fact, the top three most pre-ordered games are all unreleased Switch 2 titles: Star Fox, followed by Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and Splatoon Raiders. Rounding out the top 10 are Pokemon Pokopia, Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Just Dance 2026, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Pragmata, and Resident Evil Requiem.

Is Star Fox Going to Be One of the Best-Selling Games of 2026?

What can we learn from this? Looking at the chart, it’s easy to assume the new Star Fox game will be a huge hit. It’s a remake of a classic, and it’s been a long time since a new Star Fox title was released, so that makes sense. However, the chart isn’t a perfect predictor. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, for example, is currently second in sales despite the series not typically being a top seller. What the chart does show is that dedicated Nintendo fans are really enthusiastic about Star Fox coming back, even with the new character designs and other changes.

Pre-orders are likely being boosted by the price: digital copies are just $50, and physical copies are $60. That’s $10 less than many new Nintendo Switch 2 games, and even $20 less than some. Plus, the game’s release date of June 25th is right around the corner, which is also encouraging people to pre-order.
