BBC’s Mum and House of the Dragon favourites’ new “darkly comic” drama releases first look as release date confirmed

MUBI has shared a sneak peek at the dark comedy ‘The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford,’ featuring Peter Mullan, and announced its theatrical release date.

Seán Dunn’s first feature film is a darkly funny look at grief, finding yourself, and the impact of your heritage. It’s scheduled to hit UK cinemas on June 12, 2026.

Lesley Manville (known for the BBC sitcom Mum) plays Kenneth McKay, a man recently bereaved and working as a tour guide in the small Scottish town of Arberloch. He’s completely fixated on the legacy of Sir Douglas Weatherford, a famous figure from the town’s history.

When a fantasy TV show starts filming in Aberloch, Kenneth’s quiet local fame is overshadowed by the sudden burst of popularity. As his life is disrupted, he desperately tries to protect his reputation, no matter the consequences.
