According to FlixPatrol, viewership for The Pitt on HBO Max is starting to decline after being among the platform’s ten most-watched shows for over 250 days. The medical drama usually ranked at number one or two while new episodes of its second season were being released, but it has now dropped to number six. Though it’s still holding a spot on the Top Ten list, upcoming summer releases could threaten The Pitt‘s position as a leading show.
The Pitt Is One of HBO Max’s Most Successful Shows Ever
Now that shows like Euphoria and Hacks are gaining popularity on HBO Max, The Pitt is starting to see its audience decrease. The second season of the popular medical drama finished on April 16th, after a successful fifteen-week run with new episodes released every Friday. Like the first season, critics and viewers alike praised the show, making it a standout series.
Critics overwhelmingly love The Pitt, giving it a 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers agree, awarding the medical drama an impressive 8.9 out of 10. These accolades, along with its early Emmy wins, suggest the show will remain successful even during the break between seasons 2 and 3 on HBO Max.
What’s Next for The Pitt?
After becoming a hit in its first two seasons, The Pitt has been renewed for a third season, set to premiere in January 2027. Most of the original cast will return, including the actor known as “Doctor Robby.” However, Supriya Ganesh, who played Dr. Samira Mohan, will not be appearing in Season 3.
After the strong positive response and popularity of the first two seasons of The Pitt, HBO might expand it into a larger franchise. Because each season focuses on a single, intense shift for the medical team, there’s been talk of additional shows.
