This summer, fans can step into the world of the classic TV show Gladiators with a new immersive experience coming to Birmingham.

As a huge fan of the show, I was so excited to find out you can actually try some of the challenges yourself! They’ve got a Hang Tough course, The Wall, even the Eliminator and Duel – it’s insane! Plus, they have this area called The Vault where you can get a peek behind the scenes, and a massive Superstore packed with exclusive merch you can’t find anywhere else.

You might be curious about whether The Gladiators Experience is actually any good, especially considering tickets start at £39. We decided to try it out ourselves, and we’re here to share everything you need to know – how it all works and whether it’s worth the money.

What is the Gladiators Experience?

The Gladiators Experience lets you step into the iconic BBC show and tackle the challenges yourself! Located in a huge space at the Birmingham NEC, you can try out five events just like the ones on TV. There’s also a warm-up area, a shop, and a fascinating exhibit showcasing costumes and memorabilia from the show’s history.

When you arrive, we’ll give you all the safety gear you need – shin guards, elbow pads, and a head guard – from the Kit Room. We’ll also provide an RFID wristband to check you into each event. Once you scan in for the first time, your 75-minute session will start.

Participants can choose from five different challenges, each with versions for both adults and juniors. These include the Hang Tough – a swinging ring course, The Wall – a climbing test, Unleash – a four-person race to a flag, and the Duel – a head-to-head battle on podiums. The highlight is the Eliminator: a one-on-one race or individual time trial involving nine obstacles, the famous Travelator, and a final swing through the finish line.

Experience the thrill of The Gladiators Experience at the NEC in Birmingham. This popular exhibition centre also hosts other exciting events like immersive explorations of Tutankhamun and the Titanic.

The venue is just a five-minute walk from Birmingham International Railway Station, and parking is available there for a small extra charge. Because it’s close to the airport, you’ll find plenty of hotels nearby on Booking.com.

How long is the Gladiators Experience on for?

This experience is available until August 31st, 2026. Each day, you can choose from 12 time slots between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Once you enter, you’ll have 75 minutes to play the various games.

How much do the Gladiators Experience tickets cost?

Tickets for spectators are priced at £17.50 for juniors and £22.50 for adults. Contender tickets cost £39.50 and £44.50.

Is the Gladiators Experience worth it?

I really enjoyed the Gladiators Experience! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how well they recreated the show – the lights, music, and even the red foam were spot-on. The games themselves were just as fun as I’d hoped.

The challenges are difficult enough to be engaging, but not as intense as on the TV show. While ‘The Wall’ is achievable, it’s still tricky, and ‘The Duel’ is surprisingly high up, which adds some excitement – though it’s completely safe. ‘The Eliminator’ is especially thrilling, featuring a moving walkway, climbing sections, and balance beams to really test your abilities. Importantly, each challenge also has a simpler version for children to enjoy.

The experience also includes a warm-up area and chances for photos. Dedicated fans will especially appreciate the archive. It’s most fun with kids or a group of friends, because you can race around and have a great time together.

How to get Gladiators Experience tickets

We offer four ticket options. Spectator Tickets give you access to The Vault, viewing areas, the food court, a merchandise store, and a children’s play area. Adult Contender and Junior Contender Tickets provide full access to the main event. Family Contender Tickets let groups of adults and children enjoy the Junior Arena together. Finally, VIP Tickets include a Contender Ticket, early access to play areas with fewer crowds, an official uniform, a participation medal, and a digital photo package.
