Nintendo GameCube Exclusive Game From 2002 Reportedly Getting Remake

A game originally released on Nintendo GameCube in 2002 is supposedly getting a complete remake. While the game was remastered in 2016 and is playable on today’s consoles, this would be the first time it’s been fully rebuilt. Currently, there isn’t a version specifically designed for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, but this remake would likely change that.

A Capcom insider known as Stiviwonder, who recently gained recognition for correctly revealing information about a Resident Evil game, has now shared another leak. According to this source, Capcom is currently developing a remake of Resident Evil 0, alongside other projects.

24-Year-Old GameCube Exclusive

Resident Evil 0 often gets overlooked when people talk about the Resident Evil series, especially compared to the bigger, more recent installments. It wasn’t a huge seller when it came out in 2002 – the GameCube only sold around 22 million units – and being a prequel to the very first Resident Evil game makes its place in the series a bit unusual. It wasn’t a major release, but it was still a good game, earning a respectable 83 on Metacritic. However, the older ‘tank controls’ can make the original version difficult to play today.

The report doesn’t say when we can expect this new version of the game, or even when we’ll get a first look at it. It also doesn’t mention what systems it will be available on. However, recent remakes of other Resident Evil games have been released on multiple platforms, so it’s unlikely this one will be exclusive to Nintendo like the original release in 2002.

Since official details are still missing, keep in mind that this information shouldn’t be taken as definitive. Even if it’s currently correct, things could change. However, it’s worth noting that we’ve heard similar rumors from other sources.
