I recently discovered Noam Bettan, and he’s a really interesting artist. He’s both a singer and songwriter, and his career actually got a kickstart back in 2018 when he was on a reality show in Israel called Aviv or Eyal. It’s cool to see how that platform helped launch his music journey!
He launched his music career in 2022 with his first album, including the hit song “Buba,” which climbed to number three on Galgalatz radio. He’s been making music consistently ever since.
In 2026, Bettan was the winner of season 12 of Rising Star, a singing competition that chooses who represents Israel at Eurovision.
How old is Noam Bettan?
Noam Bettan is 28 years old.
What nationality is Noam Bettan?
The singer grew up in Ra’anana, Israel, where he was born to French Jewish parents who had moved to Israel from France.
What has Noam Bettan said about representing Israel at Eurovision 2026?
During an interview on Kan Gimmel radio, Bettan admitted that Israel’s participation would likely be met with strong opposition, describing it as “entering the lion’s den.”
It really meant a lot to me seeing those Israeli flags in the crowd. It felt like I wasn’t just standing there alone – I felt the support of an entire nation behind me, and it was an honor to be their voice. It’s a privilege I won’t forget.
What is Israel’s Eurovision 2026 song called?
Israel will be represented by Bettan, who will perform the song “Michelle.” The song was co-written by Yuval Raphael, who represented Israel last year.

Where did Israel come in the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest?
Israel came in second place in last year’s contest, scoring 357 points.
They were represented by Yuval Raphael with her song New Day Will Rise.
The Eurovision Song Contest has received a lot of criticism for letting Israel participate this year, given the current war happening in Gaza.
Several countries are choosing not to participate in this year’s contest because the organization in charge, the European Broadcasting Union, decided against banning Israel from competing.
In December 2025, the EBU held a meeting where members voted to create rules preventing governments or outside groups from unfairly boosting certain songs to sway voting results. However, they did not vote on whether Israel would be allowed to participate.
The EBU announced that most of its members decided another vote on whether to participate wasn’t necessary. They confirmed that the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will go ahead as scheduled, with extra safety measures added.
After this announcement, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland all stated they would not be competing in Eurovision this year.
Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has stated that it believes it is inappropriate for Ireland to participate in the event due to the tragic loss of life and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which continues to endanger civilians.
The BBC, the UK broadcaster for the competition, backs the EBU’s decision. In a statement, they explained it’s about following the rules and ensuring everyone feels welcome.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026.
