Pearl Abyss recently announced its earnings for the first three months of 2026, and the game Crimson Desert played a major role in a record-breaking quarter. Revenue nearly quadrupled compared to last year and the previous quarter, increasing by 420% year-over-year and 382.4% quarter-over-quarter. Net profit also saw a significant jump, increasing by over 2,100% compared to the same time last year.
The company reported that most of its revenue this quarter – 94 percent – came from international sales. North America and Europe were particularly strong contributors, accounting for 81 percent of that total, or 266.5 billion won (approximately $178.85 million). This is a significant achievement. For the game Crimson Desert, both console and PC platforms generated an equal share – 50 percent each – of the overall revenue.
As a big fan, I wasn’t surprised to see that Black Desert is still doing really well! It’s been out in Korea since 2015 and here in Europe/North America since 2016, and it brought in 61.6 billion won (around $41.34 million) in revenue. Pearl Abyss says they expect things to dip a little this quarter, but that’s because they’re concentrating on making the game better for players and running fun events instead of releasing huge new content packs. Honestly, I’m okay with that – a smoother, more enjoyable experience is way more important!
Similar to other games, Crimson Desert saw a lot of initial sales as a packaged game. The developers are aiming for consistent performance and plan to keep supporting the game after launch with updates and fixes. A recent update included new mounts, material gathering options, and even a fun claw machine game. You can find a complete list of changes and additions here.
