Over time, numerous talented actors have taken on the role of Spider-Man, Marvel’s leading character. This iconic superhero has been depicted in films, television shows, video games, and even an unsuccessful Broadway production. Among these actors, Josh Keaton is particularly well-liked by fans. He provided the voice for both Peter Parker and his alter ego in The Spectacular Spider-Man, a cartoon series that is often considered one of the finest Marvel productions. Regrettably, this series ended in 2010, but Keaton has continued to portray the character in various subsequent projects.
Keaton is back to voice Spider-Man in the game “Marvel Cosmic Invasion”, and the news has sparked excitement among fans. Many supporters of “The Spectacular Spider-Man” have expressed their approval for this casting, with a bit of surprise since Yuri Lowenthal usually voices the character. Yet, followers of Lowenthal’s Spider-Man can look forward to hearing him in other Marvel games in the future.
In the Marvel Cosmic Invasion, I’m not the only one stepping back into a familiar role. Cal Dodd and Alison Sealy-Smith, who brought Wolverine and Storm to life in the ’90s X-Men animated series and more recently in X-Men ’97, are returning to the scene. Trevor Devall, known for his work as Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy, is back too. And Elysia Rotaru, who voiced She-Hulk in Marvel Super Hero Adventures, will be reprising her role once again. Last but not least, Brian Bloom, who played Captain America in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, will be taking on the super soldier’s voice in this new adventure.
It’s exciting for fans when all these voice actors return, as developer Tribute Games is bringing back some beloved characters for Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Ever since the game was announced, it has garnered a lot of positive feedback, largely due to the talented team behind it. Tribute Games is known for their exceptional work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, which was met with critical acclaim upon its 2022 release. The question now is whether they can create a Marvel game that doesn’t just resemble Shredder’s Revenge, but so far, things look promising.
At present, the release date for Marvel Cosmic Invasion has yet to be determined. The game is expected to drop this year, with less than half of 2025 remaining, it’s likely that we will receive an update on its launch in the coming months. Additionally, four more characters are still to be announced for the initial roster at release. It remains to be seen who will join the lineup, but here’s hoping for some well-known heroes and familiar voices reprising their roles.
