Nintendo Announces New Super Mario Release Coming This July

As a huge Mario fan, I’m so excited Nintendo just announced a new Mario game coming this summer, and Bowser Jr. will be featured! We’ve been waiting for a new 3D Mario game on the Switch (and hopefully the Switch 2!), and while that wait continues, The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a great treat. If you loved the movie, get ready because something awesome is coming in July!

Nintendo and Jakks Pacific are releasing toys based on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The first toy, an 8-inch Chomping Wonder Bowser Jr. figure, will be available exclusively at Target starting July 19th, and pre-orders are now open. The figure is designed to look like Bowser Jr. as he appears in the movie.

As you can see in the image, this figure is eight inches tall. It’s surprisingly poseable with 15 points of articulation. A unique feature allows you to push the figure’s shell forward, creating a chomping motion. Bowser Jr. comes with a paintbrush that has interchangeable tips – you can swap between a brush, axe, mace, and arrowhead. You can even ‘wet’ the brush, which reveals a hidden ink splatter on the included stand. Best of all, it’s entirely mechanical, meaning no batteries are needed! This also keeps the figure nice and light, weighing just 1.2 pounds, as it’s made entirely of plastic.

This collectible figure will only be available at Target. It costs $30, and while it officially releases on July 19th, online orders are expected to ship between July 22nd and 27th.

If you’re curious about Bowser Jr. but haven’t watched the movie, he steps up as the main villain after Bowser is beaten and captured. He then leads the Koopa army in an attempt to save his father.
