The Legend of Zelda Movie Release Date Moved Up; Set To Arrive Sooner in 2027

Everyone is excited for the upcoming movie based on the popular video game, The Legend of Zelda. Originally planned for March 26, 2027, the release date was first moved to May 7, 2027. Now, Nintendo has changed the date again!

Shigeru Miyamoto, a key creator of Zelda and producer of the upcoming film, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the release date has been moved forward by a week. Nintendo hasn’t said why, but fans will be happy to hear the news.

Shigeru Miyamoto announced the new release date for the fantasy adventure film as April 30, 2027. He shared that the team is dedicated to finishing the movie and releasing it as quickly as they can.

Miyamoto announced that the live-action Legend of Zelda movie will now premiere on April 30, 2027 – a week earlier than the previously announced May 7th. He shared that the team is working diligently to finish the film and expressed gratitude for fans’ patience, noting that the release is now less than a year away.

The film will also be released in IMAX, while principal photography was completed in April 2026.

I’m so excited about this new movie! It’s directed by Wes Ball, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is playing Link, which is awesome! Bo Bragason is Zelda, and I think they’re both perfect casting. Nintendo and Sony are keeping most of the other actors a secret for now, but I heard they filmed a lot of it in New Zealand, which is a beautiful location!
