The release of 007 First Light on May 27th is almost here, now that the game has gone gold! Everyone is really looking forward to this new installment in the James Bond gaming series, and it sounds like Patrick Gibson, who plays the character, is just as thrilled as the fans.
Gibson recently shared in a video that he was very surprised to be cast in the role, explaining he’d been a longtime fan of the James Bond films and books.
I was completely surprised – it was a huge shock! Just getting the audition was an honor, and I was incredibly excited. Honestly, it was one of the most thrilling phone calls of my life.
It’s clear he genuinely enjoys playing the character, and that shows in his performance. He definitely embodies the classic Bond look and charisma that fans love. But this Bond is also a highly skilled operative – when charm and deception aren’t enough, he can rely on his deadly abilities to handle any situation.
Gibson also shared his thoughts on how he’d play Bond – as a younger, more self-assured character. This is interesting because there’s been some discussion about whether a more arrogant Bond would work. We think it could be great, and early signs suggest it’s heading in the right direction.
You can find the complete interview with Gibson below if you’re interested in hearing his perspective on taking on the role of James Bond.
