Where did the UK place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026?

The Eurovision 2026 final was quite a night! Twenty-five performers, including the United Kingdom, competed for the top spot.

The UK hasn’t historically done well in Eurovision, but things started to improve with Sam Ryder in 2022, who achieved a strong second place, narrowly losing to Ukraine.

I was really excited to see the UK represented at Eurovision this year by Sam Battle, who performs as Look Mum No Computer. He absolutely killed it with his song ‘Eins, Zwei, Drei,’ and it was amazing to see the Viennese crowd singing along – the energy was incredible!

Now that the winner of Eurovision 2026 has been announced and the final scores are tallied, let’s take a look at how the United Kingdom performed.

Where did the UK come in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026?

Okay, so as a big fan, I have to admit the results were a bit of a letdown. The UK actually finished last, with just one point! Talk about a disappointing finish, huh?

Okay, let me tell you, things started rough. The UK only got one point from the jury vote – just one! And it came from Ukraine, bless them. Seriously, that was the entire score for a while. It was a bit of a shock, honestly.

Things didn’t improve during the public vote, as Sam Battle received zero points, placing him last on the leaderboard.

This result placed the UK 17 spots lower than last year, when “Remember Monday” finished 18th with 88 points.

Before his performance, Sam Battle told TopMob that while winning would be great, he wouldn’t be upset if he didn’t. He explained that there’s a lot of strong competition and he’s focusing on enjoying the experience. He plans to give it his all, stay true to himself, and have fun, no matter the result.

The Eurovision Song Contest has received a lot of criticism for letting Israel participate this year, given the current war happening in Gaza.

Several countries are choosing not to participate in this year’s contest because the organization in charge, the European Broadcasting Union, decided against banning Israel from competing.

In December 2025, the EBU held a meeting where members voted to create rules preventing governments or outside groups from unfairly pushing certain songs to sway voting results. They did not vote on whether Israel would be allowed to participate.

The EBU announced that most of its members decided another vote on whether to participate wasn’t necessary, and that the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will go ahead as scheduled, with extra safety measures in place.

After that announcement, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland all stated they would not be competing in Eurovision this year.

Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has stated that it believes it’s inappropriate for Ireland to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest this year, considering the tragic loss of life and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which continues to endanger civilians.

The BBC, the UK broadcaster for the competition, backs the EBU’s decision. In a statement, they explained it’s about following the competition’s rules and ensuring everyone feels welcome.
