Rumors suggest a new Nintendo Direct presentation is coming soon. With summer here, many gaming events are scheduled, including Summer Games Fest. We’re likely to see major presentations from Xbox as well, and PlayStation often holds a State of Play event. Nintendo typically participates with a substantial Direct presentation, and often includes a separate showcase for its partner companies.
Google recently noticed an update to the archive of Nintendo Direct presentations, which Famiboards also reported. This sparked speculation about a new Direct announcement, but so far, nothing has happened. However, this isn’t unusual. It’s happened before – back in January 2021, the archive was updated multiple times, leading to confusion among Nintendo Switch fans. While no Direct aired in January, one followed shortly after in February. This raises the question of whether those updates and the subsequent Direct were connected. If so, it could suggest a new Nintendo Direct is on the way in June.
Look, take everything I’m about to say with a bit of caution, but I really think there’s something to this. Nintendo almost never addresses rumors or leaks, so don’t hold your breath for an official statement. But if they do surprise us and say something, I’ll be sure to update you all right away!
Even if this turns out to be nothing, the timing and past patterns suggest a new Nintendo Direct presentation is likely coming soon, which could make it seem legitimate later on. We don’t know how many announcements Nintendo has planned, but they still need to announce release dates for several 2026 games, including Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and Duskbloods. Splatoon Raiders also needs a date, while Pokémon Wind and Waves isn’t expected until 2027, so there’s no immediate need to talk about it – we’ll likely hear more on Pokémon Day next February. Beyond Nintendo’s own games, many of its partners also have announcements to make, and some of them will probably share news soon.
