The Last of Us Fans Collectible Statue Reunites Joel and Ellie

This 13-inch statue costs $487.29 and only 1,000 will be made, so it’s likely to be popular with collectors. According to Dark Horse Direct, it depicts Joel and Ellie walking across a detailed base that includes a Fireflies symbol, fallen leaves, moss, and the beginnings of the cordyceps fungus growing up from below.

Joel and Ellie first appeared in the popular 2013 video game, The Last of Us. The game takes place in a United States destroyed by a fungal virus that turns people into zombie-like creatures.

Following the success of The Last of Us, a downloadable expansion called The Last of Us: Left Behind was released in 2014. However, fans had to wait until 2020 for the full sequel, The Last of Us Part II. Just like the first game, The Last of Us Part II received incredibly positive reviews and quickly sold millions of copies.

HBO’s television adaptation of The Last of Us debuted in 2023, bringing the game’s intense story to a much larger audience. The series was created by Neil Druckmann, who also co-created the original games and served as showrunner for the first two seasons alongside Craig Mazin.

The first two seasons of The Last of Us featured Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie. However, Season 3 will tell the story from a different perspective, focusing on Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever. Dever previously contributed to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4 through voice and motion capture work and almost didn’t take on the role.

Years ago, I auditioned for the role of Ellie,” Dever shared. “I’m still surprised by how things turned out.” She then talked about understanding her character, Abby, in The Last of Us, explaining that Abby’s actions stem from deep grief and loss. “Abby is driven by the shock and pain of loss, and a desperate need to escape it. She’s searching for something to make the pain go away.”
