The lead actor from a popular sci-fi series—who appeared in a Marvel movie but wasn’t given much to do—has expressed interest in joining the Justice League in the new DC Universe. While DC’s main hero team hasn’t been formed yet in James Gunn’s reboot—only the Justice Gang and Creature Commandos exist so far—it’s expected to happen eventually. The DCU still needs to establish key heroes like Batman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash before building the team. This actor is eager to play Martian Manhunter and could be a major star for the DCU.
Originally, the Martian Manhunter was meant to be a key character in Zack Snyder’s planned Justice League films. However, after Snyder stepped away from the project and Joss Whedon took over, the character’s role was significantly reduced. While his surprising reveal was restored in the Snyder Cut, many fans feel he hasn’t gotten the attention he deserves, considering his popularity and power. Now, with a new Justice League in development, Sterling K. Brown has expressed strong interest in playing the character. He enthusiastically responded to a fan-made video suggesting him for the role with a simple “I’m in!”, sparking excitement among fans who agree he would be a perfect fit.
Sterling K Brown Was Underused in the MCU (& That’s Good For His Martian Manhunter Casting Claim)

Although Michael B. Jordan was fantastic as N’Jobu in Black Panther, it’s unfortunate his incredible talent was relegated to a supporting part. While vital to the story of Ryan Coogler’s hit film, his character served to drive the plot for someone else – his death fueled the transformation of Killmonger. Jordan has consistently demonstrated, most recently in Hulu’s Paradise, that he deserves to be a leading man. Now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s loss could be the DC Universe’s gain. James Gunn and his team should consider casting him, especially since he doesn’t have the same level of pre-existing superhero associations that he would if he’d been in more prominent Marvel roles.
Martian Manhunter should be a major character in the next big Justice League story, and actor Colman Domingo’s ability to be both dramatic and subtly emotional would be perfect for the role. According to insider Daniel Richtman, casting for Martian Manhunter may have already happened, possibly under a code name, as James Gunn sometimes does with character names during casting. A powerful alien villain like Brainiac could be the perfect reason to bring Martian Manhunter into the story, and Gunn has even hinted at the character on social media by mentioning J’onn Jonzz’s favorite treat, Chocos. Hopefully, we’ll get confirmation of this exciting casting soon!
