Forza Horizon 6 offers a huge and detailed open-world map based on Japan. While there’s tons to explore and do, the sheer number of options and settings can sometimes feel overwhelming and confusing.
Want to get a head start in Forza Horizon 6? This list of 15 helpful tips covers everything from managing your Credits to unlocking free cars and rewards with Wheelspins and Super Wheelspins.
Driving Assists Preset Differences
Even if you choose the easiest Drivatar difficulty (Novice), it’s still a good idea to set your Driving Assists to ‘Hard’. While the difference in how the game feels between these settings is small, you’ll earn a much bigger bonus – 30% more credits on ‘Hard’ compared to 10% on ‘Easy’. This extra money can be really helpful, especially when you’re first starting out and trying to build up your funds.
Fast Travel Anywhere
Okay, so I figured out something cool about fast travel! You’re not limited to just jumping to those marked spots on the map. I can actually fast travel to any road I’ve already discovered, which is a huge time saver. No more running all over the place!
Easy Map Secrets
Honestly, don’t worry too much about finding every single secret right away. I’ve learned that as I explore and race around, most of the important stuff, like those Boards and Mascots, just pops up on the map automatically. It’s a huge time saver – I don’t have to spend ages hunting around for every last one of those 5000XP Boards anymore!
Tracking Regional Completion
Following up on the last point, regularly check your progress towards goals in each area. You can do this using the Region Overview, which you’ll find by pressing the ‘Change Filter’ button at the bottom of the map screen.
Button Prompts
As a Forza Horizon 6 fan, I’ve found that the game has so much you can customize, but it’s hidden in the menus! You really have to watch the button prompts that pop up on screen to find everything. Seriously, you can tweak little things like how the map looks, or even place your own props around the world using the World Builder – it’s awesome, but a bit buried.
Skip Story Race Challenges
If you’re finding it tiring to earn all three stars in story mode races, you can quickly jump to the final challenge using the button shown at the bottom of the Stories menu.
Aftermarket Cars
When you see cars available for purchase on the map, it’s a good idea to buy them if you have enough Credits. They’re 25% off and will be very useful in races with limitations.
Saving Credits
If a race asks for a pricey car you don’t have, don’t rush to buy one. These races will always be available, and you’ll likely unlock the required car through gameplay – either by progressing the story, using the Super Wheelspin, or finding a hidden one.
Car Mastery Upgrades
When upgrading your cars, focus on unlocking ‘Exquisite Taste’ first – it gives you a large 10,000 XP bonus just for owning the car. After that, get ‘Spinball Wizard’ to earn extra Super Wheelspins and increase your chances of winning great prizes.
Don’t forget you can also earn the ‘A Fine Addition’ achievement with just 3,000 XP, which is much less than what most new cars require.
Player Houses
If you’re the owner of the Tokyo Player House, don’t forget its special benefit: a Daily Wheelspin that lets you win free items every day.
Earning Wheelspins
Wheelspins in this Forza Horizon game work differently than before. Instead of unlocking them by earning a certain amount of XP, you now get one every three levels. To get more Wheelspins, focus on leveling up as quickly as possible – keep an eye out for the boards that give you 5000XP!
Barn Finds Free Fixes
You can find and claim Barn Finds for free, but they’ll need repairs to work perfectly, and those repairs cost Credits. If you’re patient, you can let them restore automatically over time instead of paying with Credits.
Easy Horizon Festival Promo Completion
Okay, so I figured out a super easy way to finish the Horizon Festival Promo! Basically, right before each race starts, I just pull out my camera and snap a pic of all the cars lined up on the grid. It doesn’t matter if they’re way in the back – every car I catch in the photo counts towards my Promo progress. It’s a quick little trick that’s been saving me a ton of time!
Favorite Cars
Forza Horizon 6 launches with a huge selection of 638 different cars, including special editions and hidden vehicles. If you only unlock 10% of them, it can be tough to find the car you want when you’re trying to race. Be sure to use the ‘Favorites’ feature, and then the ‘Filter’ button in the ‘My Cars’ menu to quickly locate your perfect vehicle.
Emergency Credits
Need some quick Credits? You can always sell vehicles you don’t need at the Auction House. If you’re having trouble parting with your cars, try filtering for duplicates in the ‘My Cars’ menu to get rid of any extras.
Those are just a handful of things you should know to get ahead in Forza Horizon 6.
