Investigators in the Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) murder case have added a new person of interest to their evidence board in Coronation Street.
Just last month, after wedding festivities took place on the street, Betsy Swain (played by Sydney Martin) discovered a body in the backyard of the corner shop.
According to series producer Kate Brooks, the identity of the murderer won’t be revealed until late June or July. In the meantime, like a classic soap opera, the investigation will involve questioning almost everyone in Weatherfield.
So far, George Shuttleworth, Christina Boyd, and Gary Windass have been questioned as part of the investigation. Other suspects include Todd Grimshaw, Summer Spellman, and Danielle Silverton.
Today’s episode focused on Summer, who shared that she’s planning to move away to attend university in the United States.
Honestly, I could feel the tension when Detective Kit Green told Todd they were getting really close to figuring out who killed Theo – and that it wouldn’t be long before whoever did it was caught. You could just see she was rattled, like she knew things were about to come crashing down.

As she picked up his remaining items from the small apartment, George and Christina realized a heap of her possessions was taking up space in their living room.
George accidentally bumped into Christina’s bag, causing it to fall open and revealing her journal. Though Christina told him not to, they both became captivated when they found a page detailing her wish to confront Theo with a gun and make him answer for his actions.
Summer unexpectedly came home and found out what was happening. Afraid of the consequences, she quickly threw the journal into a fire in the backyard.
George questioned her behaviour, saying that by disposing of the book, it made her look suspicious.

I was really getting into the story when things started to shift focus towards Summer. I remember seeing a scene where Lisa Connor-Swain – played by Vicky Myers – was looking through wedding pictures with her husband, Kit. She noticed Summer chatting with a couple of people at the party in one of the photos, and it was clear that someone was starting to pay attention to her.
The brooch discovered in Todd and Theo’s apartment was on her, strongly suggesting she was present the night of the murder.
Did Summer really kill Theo?
