Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry Makes First Appearance Since Pageant Fall

Gabrielle Henry has reached a milestone in her recovery journey.

I was so thrilled to see Miss Jamaica again! It’s been six months since her fall during the Miss Universe competition, and she finally made her first public appearance at a charity gala in Atlanta on May 16th. She was supporting the Integrity Children’s Fund’s Dinner en Rouge, and it was wonderful to see her doing so well.

Even though she’s been recovering for a long time, Henry said she wouldn’t have missed supporting this incredible event, according to People magazine. She explained that today was about celebrating the hard work and dedication of Jamaicans living abroad who put their hearts and souls into creating something truly impactful.

Henry gave her speech while sitting in a chair on stage. A man nearby held a microphone for her, according to reports.

I was absolutely stunned when I saw the video of Henry’s fall! It happened during the evening gown competition at Miss Universe in Thailand last November. She was looking incredible in this gorgeous, sparkly orange dress with a matching cape as she walked down the runway, and then… well, it was a shocking moment to watch.

Oh my gosh, she just nailed that pose for the judges, seriously flawless! And then she started walking, like, confidently to her left… but then, disaster! She just… fell! Right off the stage! I can’t believe it, I was watching and my jaw dropped! It happened so fast!

Almost a month after she fell ill, the Miss Universe Organization provided an update on her ongoing hospital stay.

On November 19, 2025, Dr. Henry had a severe fall through a gap in the stage during the preliminary competition. This caused a brain hemorrhage, loss of consciousness, a broken bone, facial cuts, and other serious injuries, according to a statement released on December 8th. She was rushed to intensive care in Bangkok and remained in critical condition, needing constant monitoring and around-the-clock specialist care.

After returning home to Jamaica, Henry reflected on how her injury changed her life.

She shared on Instagram on February 13th, alongside hospital photos, that this season has been a time of profound personal growth. While preparing to compete for Jamaica, she suffered a surprising injury that completely changed her plans and perspective.

She continued, “I’ve realized that difficult times can reveal inner strength you never knew you had. My biggest strength has come from choosing to keep going, even when things are still challenging.”

While Henry is getting better, here are some other celebrities who have shared their experiences with health issues…

Let me tell you, a few months ago, I had a really scary health scare. I ended up needing emergency surgery because doctors found a large cyst on my ovary that had actually twisted my organs and was causing internal bleeding. It was a tough time, but thankfully, everything went okay!

After her surgery, Brianna explained in a TikTok video that doctors found about half a liter of blood inside her pelvic area. She also had five cuts on her stomach, and the surgeons used a camera inserted through her belly button to locate the source of the bleeding.

Former Total Bellas star revealed that one of her breast implants moved after being hit in the chest by fellow WWE wrestler Piper Niven during a match in July 2025.

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, that they would eventually get the issue resolved. She explained to the doctor that as soon as her career ended, she’d return to address the problem and make sure everything looked its best, because she anticipated future activity and didn’t want it to appear neglected.

I was so saddened to learn that Lupita Nyong’o was diagnosed with uterine fibroids back in 2014. It’s tough to think about her dealing with that while also experiencing the incredible high of winning her Oscar for 12 Years a Slave that same year. Uterine fibroids are these non-cancerous growths that can develop in or around the uterus, and it must have been a really challenging time for her.

She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, when she shared on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

She explained that growing up, many of us are taught to expect periods to be painful, and to accept that pain as a normal part of womanhood. This often leaves us dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she had been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.

Someone messaged me on X, which used to be Twitter, saying, ‘Suki, you haven’t tweeted in ages!’ Honestly, it reminded me of something pretty embarrassing. Six months ago, I wore these super tight pants and, well, I think I actually gave myself a hernia. I’ve been too nervous to mention it to anyone, including her!

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery to fix a nearly ruptured appendix.

Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained he had a perforated appendix – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to doing so.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

During a soccer game against the Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder for Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, before suddenly collapsing. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.

After receiving initial treatment from medical staff at the game, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests. League officials reported she was in stable condition and fully conscious.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from being hit by a cement truck at age 11 continue to bother him now.

Honestly, hearing Devine talk about it on Graham Bensinger’s podcast in 2025 broke my heart. He described it as a complete nightmare, explaining he’s been dealing with spasms all over his body. What really got to me was when he said doctors actually told him he was dying – and that was just within the last year! It’s terrifying to think about what he’s been through.

I’ve been thinking a lot about pain lately, and it’s just… it comes and goes, you know? It’s like, my body has its quirks – little things that aren’t quite right, things that feel a bit off. It’s just part of dealing with things, I guess.

The former Bachelor contestant said he had to crawl to the hospital because of severe back pain that got worse during a road trip with a friend.

He described a strange tingling sensation that still persisted in his knees and toes as of a March 2025 podcast episode of Trading Secrets. To illustrate the extent of the issue, he mentioned that just a few weeks or a month prior, he’d been squatting nearly 300 pounds. Now, he couldn’t even do a squat, couldn’t balance on one leg, and felt unsteady, comparing it to experiencing a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter from The Real Housewives of Orange County revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

The comedian later posted an update online, explaining he had food poisoning but was starting to feel better.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was accidentally shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a clay pigeon shooting trip when the incident occurred.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. Brendan Rooney quickly helped her, evaluated her injuries, and drove her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within an inch of a direct hit.

The Kim Possible actress explained that a small piece of something got stuck behind her eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, but they will keep a close watch on her vision, which is currently normal.

As someone who’s spent years observing what truly matters, I can tell you that this actress’s recent statement really resonated with me. She shared how incredibly grateful she is to be alive, and spoke so beautifully about her love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends. She described having a life-changing moment where everything flashed before her eyes, and her message was so powerful: cherish the people you’re with and hug them often. It’s a reminder that life is precious and can change in an instant, and we should never take our loved ones for granted.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often harsh nature, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” during interviews, she was surprised to see doctors commenting online, concerned about her appearance and suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. This prompted her to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections for past procedures like a breast reduction and C-section, which could have caused the condition. Schumer explained she wouldn’t have known about the potential issue without the online commentary. She recently shared that she’s relieved to learn her case of Cushing syndrome is temporary and she is healthy, calling it “the greatest news imaginable.”

During a game in December 2024, an AHL player was accidentally cut by another player’s skate and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how grateful they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to respond when Justin asked if she was okay. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face began to droop.

Although her speech and facial movement eventually returned, Hailey went to the hospital for tests. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).

Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel from her heart to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side, resulting in complete paralysis. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary and unexpected, but assuring everyone he would be okay and expressing her gratitude that he was improving.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered from a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. He asked for aspirin, but lost consciousness before he could take it, and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home. However, his sister, Deidra Dixon, worried about his condition and took him to the hospital, where doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago to begin a period of rehabilitation and therapy.

He expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received, stating, “I appreciate every prayer, because I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star shared that she temporarily stopped breathing while running a mile during the initial competition on the NBC show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembers only darkness, followed by light, leading her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the series, she experienced a sudden and severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan quickly revealed a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. Clarke immediately underwent surgery to repair the aneurysm, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, making it difficult to speak coherently.

Though she left the hospital after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This surgery was unsuccessful, leading to a massive bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive procedure, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Clarke has made a full recovery and is now at 100%.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared her gratitude for her family’s support after she suffered a stroke in January 2024. She immediately contacted them, sending a text and photo, and they quickly came to her aid, as she told TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi in December 2024. While she could have been discharged after the stroke, existing health issues, including lupus and kidney problems, required a longer hospital stay. Cori is now recovering well, stating she’s doing great and has been working to regain some motor skills. She’s happy to be on the mend and feeling much better.

Shailene Woodley struggled with serious health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and digestive problems. She saw many doctors but received conflicting diagnoses.

Drawing on her background in herbalism and holistic health, Shailene sought a combination of traditional medical care and alternative healing methods to find answers. This search for well-being lasted for a decade.

She described how the physical discomfort led to anxiety around food and eventually issues with body image and a sense of self. However, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better and is happy to report she is fully healthy.
