Sony announced today that new PlayStation Plus Essential members will pay a higher price for the basic subscription service.
Starting this Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, the price of one-month and three-month PlayStation Plus memberships will be going up due to current market factors. The price of 12-month memberships will remain the same. If you don’t renew your membership before it expires, you’ll be charged the new, higher price.
| Subscription Length | Current Price | New Price from 20th May 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Month Subscription | £6.99 / $9.99 | £7.99 / $10.99 |
| 3 Month Subscription | £19.99 / $24.99 | £21.99 / $27.99 |
Okay, so Sony’s raising prices, but it’s not happening everywhere – they’re being kinda vague about which countries are getting hit. Good news is, if you already have a PlayStation Plus subscription, you’re safe… mostly. They said current subscribers won’t be affected unless your subscription runs out or you change it. But there’s a catch: if you’re in Turkey or India, you’re getting the price increase no matter what, even if you’re a current subscriber. It’s a bit frustrating they aren’t being more upfront about everything.
