Cult-Classic SNES Game Returning With New Release Soon

A beloved game first released on the Super Nintendo over 30 years ago is getting a modern update. While there are many ways to play classic SNES games today – including using the original console or Nintendo’s Switch Online service which offers a large library of titles – a new version coming in June will give players a chance to experience a lesser-known Super Nintendo gem.

Okay, so I’m really excited because Soccer Kid is making a comeback as the Soccer Kid Collection! I didn’t actually play the original back in ’93 when it first came out on Amiga, but I’ve heard about it. It’s a side-scrolling platformer where, instead of jumping on enemies, you take them down with a soccer ball – pretty cool, right? It finally made its way to North America in ’94 as a Super Nintendo game. Over the years, it popped up on a bunch of different consoles like PlayStation, Jaguar, and even Game Boy. It never became super famous, but people generally liked it whenever it came out. I’m definitely checking this collection out!

The new game, Soccer Kid Collection, will be released on June 18th. This collection includes emulated versions of the original Soccer Kid for both the SNES and MS-DOS. You’ll be able to play it on almost any platform, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

QUByte Interactive is releasing the Soccer Kid Collection just before the 2026 World Cup, which starts on June 11th. The World Cup is the largest soccer tournament globally, attracting a massive audience every four years. QUByte believes that with so much attention on the tournament throughout June and July, it’s a great opportunity to reintroduce Soccer Kid to a new group of players.

The Soccer Kid Collection will be available soon, and it’s very affordable! You can download it digitally on all platforms for just $9.99.
