After a successful return following a 21-year hiatus, the popular children’s show Balamory has been renewed for both a third and fourth season.
The popular children’s TV show, which first aired from 2002 to 2005 and is set in a make-believe island community off the coast of Scotland, returned to CBeebies last month.
Following the successful debut of the revived show – which drew 1.5 million viewers in its first 28 days – a new season has been commissioned. This makes it the biggest new CBeebies episode of 2026 so far.
Kate Morton, who leads program development for CBeebies, explained that Balamory has always focused on themes of community, imagination, and helping children learn about the world. She said it’s been wonderful to see the show return and resonate with both new and longtime viewers.
This renewed commitment shows how children’s media can create cherished memories and encourage positive values like kindness, acceptance, and community.

Lisa Hazlehurst, from Lion Television Scotland, said they’re excited to create new stories for the Balamory characters after the successful return of the show. She believes there’s something special about showing real people having adventures in such a stunning location.
Balamory teaches kids that being kind and working together – with a little creativity and fun – can overcome any challenge. We could all learn a thing or two from Balamory!

The show was renewed for two more seasons starting in 2024, and the second season will be released later this year.
It was so great to see some familiar faces back for this! Julie Wilson Nimmo returned as the wonderful Miss Hoolie, and Andrew Agnew was perfect as PC Plum, as always. Kim Tserkezie brought Penny Pocket to life again, and Juliet Cadzow was brilliant reprising her role as Edie McCredie. It really felt like coming home seeing them all!
The show also added three new characters: Ava Potts, a scientist and inventor played by Danielle Jam, Dr. Ollie, a local veterinarian portrayed by Carl Spencer, and William Andrews as the Harbour Master.
