Modern Warfare 4 Wants You to Pre-Order to ‘Help Ensure the Best Day One Experience’

If you pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for PlayStation 5, you’ll be able to play the open beta before everyone else.

Activision is using its standard marketing approach for this year’s game, and you can now pre-order the digital version on the PlayStation Store.

If you pre-order the game physically, you’ll get access to the beta test. However, you’ll need to check with the store where you pre-ordered to find out how they’ll send you the beta code.

The official website playfully states this is your chance to give important feedback, helping to make the game as good as possible when it releases on October 23rd.

I get what the publisher is aiming for, but it’s funny to me that they present pre-ordering as a way to “guarantee a great launch.” Do you ever wonder if the people writing these marketing lines actually stop to think about how they sound?

Since this is being presented as a first look at an open beta, it seems like everyone will eventually have a chance to play it. This means you probably won’t need to pre-order the game just to get early access before it officially comes out.

The beta test dates aren’t finalized yet, but Activision plans to share more details soon.

Call of Duty is looking to bounce back this year. While last year’s release, Black Ops 7, still sold a lot of copies – as Call of Duty games usually do – it wasn’t as successful as previous installments.

Microsoft, the company behind Xbox, has been actively trying to revive this game series. They’ve now taken it off Xbox Game Pass, a move that reportedly resulted in a $300 million loss for the company.

We’re optimistic that this year’s game will be successful, but it will have strong competition from GTA 6 when it releases in November, and that could significantly impact its sales.
