Unreleased Superhero Concept From The Legendary Stan Lee Is Finally Releasing, And We Can’t Wait (Exclusive)

Stan Lee, the legendary comic book creator behind many famous superheroes, had one idea that never saw the light of day – until now. We’ve got the exclusive first look at this brand new superhero concept that Lee developed but never released.

Ignition Press is publishing Airwalker, a brand-new graphic novel based on an unreleased idea from the legendary Stan Lee. This project is a collaboration with Superhero Ventures. Writer Jeremy Haun (known for works like The Beauty and Murder Podcast) and artist Danny Luckert (Jumpscare, The Space Between) are working together to bring Lee’s vision to life, and we’re excited to share a first look, ahead of its debut at Comic-Con International later this year.

How Stan Lee’s Airwalker Went From Concept to Reality

Haun and Luckert were thrilled to develop a story inspired by Stan Lee, and their comic, Airwalker, centers around Bo Chang. To support his sick mother and save the family business, Chang fights as a boxer for a local gangster. His path to becoming a hero begins when he meets an old friend of his father’s, a very enigmatic man. This encounter changes Chang’s life forever, as he gains the ability to walk on air thanks to a God Particle. However, this newfound power also attracts unwanted attention from those who want to steal it for themselves.

Jeremy Haun, a comic book writer and artist, describes his career as both unusual and rewarding. He’s worked with nearly every major comic book company, and he especially enjoyed the opportunity to work on Airwalker. He couldn’t pass up the chance to develop a concept from Stan Lee and build an entire universe around it. Haun sees Airwalker as a traditional superhero story, complete with exciting powers, action, and a memorable costume, but ultimately, he was drawn to telling a story about family, love, and responsibility.

Haun expressed how fortunate she is to collaborate with Danny Luckert again, emphasizing that his talent and dedication are evident throughout the project. She believes they’ve created something truly remarkable and feels Stan would approve.

Artist Danny Luckert enjoyed working on “Airwalker,” praising the script by Jeremy as a well-rounded story. He said it successfully blends exciting superhero action with heartfelt moments about family and personal connection, and even includes some spooky elements. Luckert believes audiences will really love it.

A preview of Airwalker is now available in comic shops as a limited ashcan edition. The full graphic novel will debut at San Diego Comic-Con on July 22, 2026. Comic shops will also have access to a special edition cover, while the standard softcover version will feature artwork by Luckert. Details about Airwalker‘s story can be found below.

Bo Chang’s life is on the verge of a dramatic transformation, going from underground boxing matches to facing challenges beyond the realm of possibility. He’s constantly struggling – dealing with dangerous gangsters who control his life as a fighter, and also caring for his sick mother and helping run their bookstore in New York City’s Chinatown. But soon, Bo will face an even greater fight – one that could determine the fate of all humankind.

When a family friend with ties to Bo’s late father reappears, Bo is exposed to a powerful, almost divine energy. This changes him dramatically, granting him the ability to levitate, but also making him a target for those who want to control this incredible new power.

Editor-in-Chief Jamie S. Rich praised Stan Lee, saying every idea he had was a gift. He explained that the comic Airwalker demonstrates Lee’s constant drive to innovate and revitalize the superhero world. Rich believes the creators of Airwalker, Jeremy and Danny, have not only captured that spirit but also joined the impressive legacy of Stan Lee’s many successful partnerships.

Airwalker is set to hit comic stores on July 28, 2026.
