New Resident Evil Game Leaked Ahead of Summer Games Fest Reveal

Details about a new Resident Evil game have surfaced online before its expected announcement at Summer Games Fest. Capcom recently launched Resident Evil Requiem on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, so a full Resident Evil 10 is likely still a ways off. However, the next major game in the series seems to be coming sooner than anticipated. Before that, we’ll see at least two remakes, and the first one will be unveiled on June 5th at Summer Games Fest. Based on how Capcom has marketed previous remakes, it’s likely to be released next year.

A new report from Residence of Evil 2 suggests a remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica will be announced at the Geoff Keighley show. This game, released in 2000, continues the story three months after Resident Evil 2 and runs alongside the events of Resident Evil 3. It features Claire and Chris Redfield as the main characters. Despite receiving a very high score of 94 on Metacritic – even better than many other games in the Resident Evil series – Code: Veronica is sometimes overshadowed. This is partly because it was originally released exclusively for the Sega Dreamcast, making it the first game in the series available on a platform other than PlayStation. It was later released on other systems, however.

Long-Rumored Remake

Rumors about this remake have been circulating for a while, so the fact that it’s happening isn’t surprising. The interesting news is the claim that it will be officially announced at Summer Games Fest on June 5th. However, it’s best to be cautious, as the source making this claim doesn’t have a strong history of accurate reporting. Considering all the past rumors, this announcement could easily turn out to be inaccurate.

Capcom hasn’t officially responded to this rumor as of today. We don’t anticipate they will, but we’ll share any updates if they do.
