Last week, viewers finally discovered which resident was igniting fires on Emmerdale Farm.
Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle have been struggling for months with someone secretly setting fires, apparently trying to sabotage their farm business.
Initially, viewers suspected Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) was starting the fires, perhaps to have a reason to stay at Butler’s Farm since she’d been kicked out of her home.
Kammy Hadiq (also known as Shebz Miah) was suspected of wrongdoing. People saw him near the fields and witnessed him attempting to set his own car on fire.
Robert and Aaron were certain they’d identified the person responsible, but it turned out he was experiencing homelessness and desperately needed the money from the car’s insurance to get by.
When Kammy moved in with the Dingles, Robert and Aaron felt like all their progress had been undone.
Friday’s episode finally revealed who was responsible. Cain Dingle’s son, Kyle Winchester, was caught on camera pouring fuel onto hay bales and carrying a lighter!
But why is he doing it, and will he be caught?
Next week’s episodes reveal Kyle’s worrying actions will escalate, and Graham Foster will become involved in the drama.
The story begins when Cain refuses to hang out with Kyle, leading Kyle to skip school. He accidentally hears his dad talking to Kammy about his strong desire to fix the old, rusty car he received as a gift, and Kyle wrongly assumes this means his dad doesn’t enjoy spending time with him.
Graham was searching the farm for whoever started the fire. He noticed smoke rising from the fields and quickly ran towards it.
He’s stunned to see Kyle torching his car, and drags him to safety.
An unexpected friendship blossoms between the two, with Kyle sharing his personal struggles. When Robert mentions seeing the flames and heading over, Graham swiftly intervenes, telling Kyle to hide in the back of his car to avoid being seen.
Graham eventually sympathizes with Kyle’s reasons for acting as he did and offers to assist him, but only if Kyle tells Cain and Moira the complete truth. Graham also enrolls Kyle in the cadets, hoping it will help him get his life back on track.
