Some heroes actually feel more compelling as villains, even iconic ones from the earliest days of superheroes. Shifting a hero’s alignment can be a great way to revitalize their story and offer readers something fresh. Here are seven DC heroes who would be fantastic villains, adding an exciting new dimension to their characters.

Damian Wayne is the current Robin, and many consider him one of the best. As the son of Batman and Talia al Ghul, he’s always strived to follow in his father’s footsteps. Lobo started as a parody of characters like Wolverine – the tough, brooding anti-hero – but unexpectedly became popular in the late 80s and early 90s. He’s far from a traditional hero, usually landing on the side of good more by chance than intention. He’s famous for fighting even the biggest heroes, like Superman, and is actually more compelling as a villain. His incredible strength and violent nature make him a formidable opponent, and it’s more entertaining to see him as a destructive force – pausing only to protect his pet space dolphins – than a predictable anti-hero.
