It’s been over a year since the first season of Deli Boys received rave reviews, and now Season 2 is here! If that wasn’t enough, critics are even more enthusiastic about the new season – it still hasn’t received a single negative review.
Season 2 of the show premiered on May 28th and has received a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This is even better than the already impressive 98% score Season 1 earned. Critics are loving the new episodes, with Nandini Balial from RogerEbert.com calling it “one of the funniest shows of the year.”
Deli Boys Season 2 Has a Perfect Score of 100%
Critic Angel Shaw praises the new season of Deli Boys, saying its success in a short time proves the writing is excellent, but the actors truly make the show special.
Tania Hussain notes that despite being a bit shorter and not fully developing every character, Deli Boys Season 2 is still one of the most original and hilarious shows available on streaming platforms.
According to Dana Han-Klein from We’re Watching What?!, the show remains remarkably original and enjoyable. She also notes that Fred Armisen joining the cast significantly elevates Season 2, making it even better.
The Gang Is Back in Deli Boys Season 2
Abdulla Saeed created the series Deli Boys. The first season centers on brothers Mir (Asif Ali) and Raj Dar (Saagar Shaikh) who are shocked to learn their recently deceased, wealthy father (Iqbal Theba) was secretly the head of a large criminal organization operating through their family’s Philadelphia deli. With no prior experience in the criminal world, the brothers must take over the business, largely depending on their father’s trusted – and rather intimidating – associate, Auntie Lucky (Poorna Jagannathan).
Season 2 finds the brothers now successful criminals, but their newfound wealth creates a new issue: how to explain where all the money comes from. They team up with a casino owner (Fred Armisen) to secretly clean their money, and Lucky becomes entangled in a complex relationship with him. This season is different from the first, focusing on the siblings trying to hold onto their power instead of just learning the ropes and staying alive in the criminal world.
The cast of Deli Boys includes Alfie Fuller, Brian George, Kevin Corrigan, Amita Rao, Sakina Jaffrey, Tim Baltz, Chris Elliott, and Sofia Black-D’Elia. Season two will feature guest appearances by Andrew Rannells, Kumail Nanjiani, Lilly Singh, and Robin Thede.
