Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Could Receive a Release Date Soon Following Now-Pulled PEGI Rating

Bandai Namco seems to be getting ready to announce a release date, likely for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, which they revealed last December. They’ve been showing off the game with several presentations and hints.

Although it hasn’t been officially announced, the game received a rating from PEGI (the European age rating board) for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. These ratings often suggest a game will be released soon, but that’s not always true – as we saw with the delayed release of Fable. Considering this is a major game for the publisher, a new trailer would be expected. Now that the rating has been removed from the PEGI database, a release seems even more probable. Alternatively, the previously reported release date of May 30th might have been a mistake.

Whether you’re excited about it or not, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is coming out this year. The game puts you in the role of the famed Wings of Theve, a pilot fighting amidst a conflict sparked when the Republic of Sotoa attacked the Federation of Central Usea, causing a massive refugee crisis.

The game now tells a more focused story, particularly through cutscenes experienced from the pilot’s perspective and by letting you build relationships with three key wingmen. It looks like Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War might be offered as a bonus for pre-ordering, possibly later this week.
