A popular game originally released for the PS3 in 2010 is back on PS5 and receiving rave reviews. It currently has a 91/100 rating on the PlayStation Store, based on over 13,000 user reviews. The game has actually been available on the PlayStation Store since 2016 with a PS4 version, and the PS5 release is proving even more popular, with players clearly enjoying this nostalgic return to a game from 16 years ago.
THQ Nordic recently released a PlayStation 5 version of Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, ten years after it first came out on PS4. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is an updated version of the original Darksiders game from 2010, a popular action-adventure title developed by Vigil Games and originally published by THQ. The game’s initial success led to a four-game series, which has been on hold since 2019. A new game, Darksiders 4, is currently in development. With seven years having passed since the last release, this updated version of Darksiders: Warmastered Edition arrives at a great time for fans.
I was a big fan of the original Darksiders when it came out – it got some really solid scores, and honestly, this remaster feels just as good! Remasters can sometimes mess things up, but thankfully that’s not the case here. If you’re like me and prefer the original, it’s tough because you can’t even buy it digitally now – you’d need a PS3! So, the remaster is really the only way to play unless you still have an older console. And it’s a great way to play! The PS5 version especially looks amazing with native 4K and runs super smoothly at 60 frames per second. They even added a photo mode, which is a nice touch!
The remastered game is now available on PS5 for $30, but it doesn’t take advantage of the PS5 Pro’s improved hardware, and that’s unlikely to change. While the game is older and might not greatly benefit from the extra power, it’s still frustrating for PS5 Pro owners to see another new release that doesn’t fully support their console.
