For over a year, excitement has been building for Avengers: Doomsday. It began when Marvel Studios cleverly had fans watch a four-hour livestream of just chairs to reveal which characters would be back in the movie. Then, earlier this year, they released new teaser trailers weekly, shown alongside Avatar: Fire and Ash, giving fans the first glimpses of the sequel and confirming returns like Chris Evans as Captain America. Now, everyone is eagerly awaiting the official trailer, though a sneak peek was recently shown at CinemaCon.
Many Marvel fans believed the first trailer for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday wouldn’t be released until San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel Studios is scheduled to have a panel for the first time in two years. However, it now looks like a trailer might actually arrive this week. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, known for their work on Doomsday and other popular Marvel films, hinted at a “Surprise” coming tomorrow, suggesting a reveal is imminent.
Avengers: Doomsday Update Confirmed by Russos for This Week
Okay, so the Russo brothers dropped something on social media that immediately got Marvel fans buzzing. They posted a logo – and it’s instantly recognizable as the symbol for Latveria, Doctor Doom’s country in the comics. What’s cool is the post was tagged from the official Avengers account, Marvel Studios, the Russos’ own production company AGBO, and SXSW London. The caption was a bit of a mystery – a hashtag with an address: #DomLatveria 4b Holywell Ln London EC2A 3ET. A quick Google search showed that address belongs to a coffee shop called Flying Horse Coffee, but honestly, that wasn’t even the most exciting part. Whatever they’re hinting at is definitely Doom-related!
According to a recent post, something will happen starting June 2nd at 10 am BST, with a surprise reveal at 2 pm BST. Fans are guessing this means the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will be released soon. Interestingly, the timing coincides with an interview with the Russo brothers at the Deadline Studio during SXSW London, which is nearby. It’s likely there will be some kind of announcement in person at that location, but the big question is whether the trailer will also be available to watch online.
Disney often releases new movie trailers early in the morning, around 8 or 9 AM Eastern Time, to generate buzz. This strategy usually works well for them. Considering that 2 PM in London is the same as 9 AM Eastern Time, it’s possible a trailer for Avengers: Doomsday could be released soon.
Big movie trailers, like one for Avengers: Doomsday, don’t usually appear out of nowhere. They’re typically released online alongside a new movie playing in theaters, giving fans a first look on the big screen. Right now, though, there aren’t any major film releases scheduled – not even something like Toy Story 5 – that would make sense as a debut event for the Avengers: Doomsday trailer.
Honestly, the whole thing is a bit of a misunderstanding. The Russo brothers never actually said we’d get a trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. We fans just put two and two together and jumped to that conclusion. Whatever surprise they do have planned will probably be cool, but if it’s not a trailer, I don’t think anyone should be upset. And even if there is some disappointment, I’m sure it’ll all be forgotten the moment the Avengers: Doomsday trailer finally drops!
