The popular and often debated anime series Lord of Mysteries is returning this year with new episodes. A recently released trailer gives fans a preview of what’s in store on Crunchyroll. The Isekai genre, known for pushing boundaries, frequently sparks controversy, and Lord of Mysteries is no exception, having generated surprisingly strong reactions from viewers. Given the high expectations for this series, the renewed attention is hardly unexpected.
Last year, the anime adaptation of the popular Chinese web novel Lord of Mysteries (originally titled Cuttlefish That Loves Diving) generated a lot of excitement, bringing the story to a wider international audience. While it gained a following, the first season faced some challenges. Now, a new trailer is offering a preview of special episodes coming to Crunchyroll later this month, giving the series another chance to capture viewers. You can watch the trailer on the show’s official social media pages.
Lord of Mysteries Releases New Trailer for 2026 Special Episodes
Fans of Lord of Mysteries have something to look forward to! Three special episodes will premiere on June 20th, available on Crunchyroll in most countries outside of Japan and China. The first special, City of Silver, will debut on that date, and The Marked Hunt – consisting of two episodes – will follow later in June. Plus, a second season of the series is already planned, making these specials a perfect bridge to the full return of Lord of Mysteries.
Crunchyroll’s new special, Lord of Mysteries: City of Silver, begins with Klein Moretti, known as The Fool, leading the Tarot Club. A mysterious plea for help reaches him through the fog, leading him to summon Derrick Berg from the cursed City of Silver, a place trapped in a desolate land. Derrick shares the dark history of his city and, hoping to save his people, makes a deal with The Fool, choosing ‘The Sun’ as his symbolic role from the Major Arcana.
What’s Wrong With Lord of Mysteries?

When Lord of Mysteries first came out last year, it quickly gained a lot of attention and seemed like it would be the best new isekai anime of 2025. However, as more episodes were released, it became clear that the anime wasn’t a good starting point for newcomers. It rushed through important plot points and became confusing for anyone unfamiliar with the original source material.
These special episodes of Lord of Mysteries are being released to help prepare viewers for Season 2, which is coming in 2027. Like the first season, they might be a bit confusing if you’re not already familiar with the story, so it could be a good time to rewatch or catch up on Season 1, now available on Crunchyroll.
