7 Most Powerful Versions of Spider-Man, Ranked

Peter Parker was just a regular, somewhat weak kid until a radioactive spider gave him incredible powers, turning him into the iconic Spider-Man. As one of Marvel’s most recognizable characters, Spider-Man has appeared in many different forms and universes. While most versions of Spider-Man focus on helping people in their neighborhoods and have standard spider-powers – like strength, speed, climbing, web-slinging, and a danger sense – some alternate Spider-Men are far more powerful than others.

Spider-Man is famous for the saying, “with great power comes great responsibility.” Because some versions of Spider-Man are incredibly powerful, they have a bigger obligation to do what’s right, though not every one of them always accepts that duty.

7) Spider-Hulk

In an alternate universe known as Earth-122, Peter Parker wasn’t bitten by a typical radioactive spider. He was a student of Bruce Banner (the Hulk) when a spider exposed to gamma radiation bit him. Instead of becoming the friendly Spider-Man, this bite transformed Peter into Spider-Hulk – a gigantic, monstrous creature far larger and more dangerous than the Hulk himself. Instead of hands, Spider-Hulk has massive blades. However, this incredible power comes at a terrible cost: Peter loses his human mind and becomes a savage beast, indiscriminately destroying everything in its path.

6) Japanese Spider-Man

In the 1970s, Toei Animation in Japan produced a very unusual take on Spider-Man. This version, set in the alternate universe Earth-51778, was a live-action TV series that dramatically changed the Spider-Man story. Here, Takuya Yamashiro has all the standard Spider-Man abilities, but with a unique twist: he can summon and pilot a massive 60-meter-tall robot called Leopardon by pressing a button on his bracelet. Leopardon is a huge fighting machine equipped with lasers, an energy shield, and rockets. Its most powerful weapon is the Sword Vigor, capable of defeating any enemy in a single blow, even powerful multiversal threats like Solus.

5) Spider-Naut

In the “8 Deaths of Spider-Man” storyline, Spider-Man experiences a massive power boost. He battles Cyttorak, the incredibly powerful being who gave Juggernaut his abilities. Cyttorak’s daughter, Cyra, helps Spider-Man by sharing some of her father’s power, turning him into an avatar of Cyttorak and giving him a body and powers similar to Juggernaut. Like Juggernaut, Spider-Man becomes nearly unstoppable, with immense strength, resilience, and stamina. He’s strong enough to create earthquakes with a single punch and even jump into outer space. Once he gains momentum, nothing can halt him – not even powerful demons or gods. This new, incredibly powerful form is known as Spider-Naut.

4) Zombie Spider-Man

Zombie Spider-Man might not seem like a major villain, but he became a huge threat in his universe. He comes from Earth-2149, a terrifying world where a zombie outbreak turned all the heroes into intelligent, superhuman cannibals. After eating the Silver Surfer, Spider-Man and the other zombie heroes gained incredible cosmic power. This gave him the ability to fly across the galaxy quickly, shoot energy beams, teleport, and even control gravity, magnetism, and evolution. A Spider-Man with that kind of power, who wants to eat your brain, is a truly frightening prospect.

3) Ghost Spider

In the universe known as Earth-11638, there’s a Spider-Man called Ghost Spider who gained the powers of the Ghost Rider. Even before becoming the Spirit of Vengeance’s host, this Spider-Man was incredibly powerful, among the strongest versions across the multiverse. Originally, he was much more dangerous and created a machine to steal the powers of other Spider-Men from different realities, making himself even stronger. After defeating countless Spider-Men and absorbing their abilities – even taking down villains like Thanos and Galactus on his own – he realized his actions were wrong. He then bonded with the Spirit of Vengeance, gaining all the powers of a Ghost Rider, including the ability to inflict punishment with a single look.

2) Captain Universe

Captain Universe is an incredibly powerful hero in Marvel Comics, and different versions of Spider-Man have held this power. Those who become Captain Universe gain access to the Enigma Force, which gives them amazing abilities like super strength, flight, telekinesis, energy blasts, and a deep understanding of the universe – even the power to change reality. Once, when Spider-Man became Captain Universe, he was strong enough to knock the Hulk all the way into outer space! On another Earth, there’s a Spider-Man who permanently has these cosmic powers. Despite wielding such immense power, this version of Spider-Man remains grounded, retaining his strong sense of justice and compassion.

1) Beyonder Spider-Man

In the reality known as Earth-20051, the events of Secret Wars unfolded a bit differently. Before Doctor Doom stole the incredible power of the Beyonder, he briefly used Spider-Man and Wolverine to channel it. For a fleeting moment, Spider-Man became all-powerful and all-knowing. He instantly remade the universe, creating a new city called New Parker City, bringing Uncle Ben back to life, and easily defeating many of Marvel’s most dangerous enemies. However, Doctor Doom quickly took the Beyonder’s power for himself, erasing Spider-Man’s memories and stripping him of his abilities. Though it lasted only a fraction of a second, this Spider-Man was, for all intents and purposes, a god.
