Let’s be real: the story of how Dua Lipa and her now-husband, Callum Turner, first met is absolutely adorable!
Their first meeting wasn’t exactly a romantic comedy moment. After being introduced by chef Ruth Rogers at The River Cafe in London – their hometown – the three-time Grammy winner and the actor from Eternity didn’t immediately hit it off.
Dua Lipa remembered being impressed when she met Callum Turner. About a year later, while having dinner with a friend, Mustafa the Poet, in Los Angeles before a birthday party, he unexpectedly appeared. Lipa immediately thought to herself, “Wow, it’s that incredibly attractive guy from The River Cafe!”
For the 36-year-old, who had previously been in a relationship with actress Vanessa Kirby, it was the book he saw Dua Lipa reading that made him fall for her that night.
He remembered telling someone that he’d just finished the first chapter of Hernán Díaz’s Trust. She replied that she had finished it too, and he joked that they were ‘on the same page,’ as he told The Sunday Times in October.
Truly a moment for the, uh, books.
You know, sometimes life feels like a movie, right? I’ve definitely had moments where I’ve looked up and just felt like the universe was speaking directly to me. It’s that feeling of suddenly understanding everything, like all the little signs are adding up and saying, ‘Yes, you’re on the right path!’ It’s a really powerful, clarifying moment when that happens.
The IRL adaptation also has the pair living happily ever after.
More than two years after they were first linked at the premiere of his World War II series, Masters of the Air, the couple married in a private ceremony at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall. The singer wore a custom white skirt suit by Schiaparelli and a wide-brimmed hat by Stephen Jones for the occasion.
Dua Lipa described being in love as “a really inspiring thing” in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar last year, saying it felt like constantly falling for someone in the best possible way.

After dating model Anwar Hadid for two years, and then being linked to Jack Harlow and filmmaker Romain Gavras, the 30-year-old realized almost immediately that things were different with Turner. She quickly understood that the casual dating phase was over once she got to know him.
For starters, it felt like the universe was eager for him to be the one.
She described their connection as having many ‘sliding doors’ moments – those instances where a small change could have altered everything. They actually crossed paths before they officially met; he visited a London restaurant where she worked in 2014. They also both attended the same party in 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic. As Lipa pointed out, they also share a lot of mutual friends.
Asked if all of that felt like a major sign, she told Vogue UK, “One thousand percent.”
Particularly when coupled with Turner’s thoughtful nature.
After several highly visible dates – including public displays of affection in Los Angeles, a Grammys after-party, and trips to London for the BAFTAs and Brit Awards – and officially confirming their relationship on Instagram in May 2024, the actor designed a unique diamond ring. He worked on a custom, round-cut diamond set in a wide band, and got input from Dua Lipa’s sister, Rina Lipa, during the process.
The musician told British Vogue they were completely captivated by something, describing it as a perfect reflection of who they are. They also expressed happiness that their future life partner truly understands them.
They’ve created a life filled with cherished memories, from Dua Lipa’s famous roast dinners to evening walks with Golo, the rottweiler-labrador mix they both adore.
They also enjoyed exploring each city, making sure to try different restaurants and buy a vinyl record as a souvenir in every place they visited.
Even when travel keeps them apart—like when Lipa was on her recent 81-city Radical Optimism Tour which ended in December—they make an effort to reunite within two weeks.
She told Vogue UK that the decision to grow old together and remain best friends forever is a truly special feeling.
Now that they’re married, she says she’d like to have children eventually. However, she’s unsure about the timing, wondering how it would fit with her career and touring schedule, and how much time she’d need to take off work. She feels like it will happen when the time is right, rather than planning it specifically.
Until then, they’ll continue to dance the night away together.
