Midsomer Murders stage show extends UK tour into 2027 with returning series favourite on board

Following a very popular first tour, the stage show based on Midsomer Murders will return for a new tour across the UK in 2027.

Earlier this year, the popular TV mystery ‘The Killings at Badger’s Drift’ was adapted into a highly-rated stage play, featuring Daniel Casey – who originally played a different role in the TV series – as DCI Tom Barnaby. The play was so successful that it’s returning for another run, again starring Casey in the lead.

Casey shared how thrilled they’ve been with the positive response to their stage adaptation of ‘The Killings at Badger’s Drift’ since it premiered last October. They were especially pleased that their friend, John Nettles, enjoyed the performance in Truro and gave it his approval.

We’re thrilled to announce a second tour in 2027, expanding to even more locations after a fantastic first run! Thank you for all the support – we can’t wait to share the play with new audiences in some exciting new theaters.

The latest tour of this thrilling mystery will introduce a new cast, but the story remains the same: when Emily Simpson is found dead in the charming village of Badger’s Drift, her friend Lucy Bellringer is convinced it wasn’t an accident. Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby and Sergeant Gavin Troy arrive to investigate, and quickly discover a web of secret loves, old grudges, and dangerous competition.

“The Killings at Badger’s Drift” was the very first episode of Midsomer Murders, originally airing in 1997. It was also the first novel in the series, written by Caroline Graham.

We spoke with Casey last year about the play, and he assured us it would stay true to the source material.

He explained that the play will stay true to the spirit of the original TV show, and fans are sure to enjoy it. He also reassured everyone that the popular band, the Rainbirds, will be present.

Here’s what you need to know about the new tour dates.
