Masters Of The Universe Rotten Tomatoes Score Officially Sets All-Time Movie Franchise Record After 41 Years

Nicholas Galitzine’s Masters of the Universe could potentially set a new all-time low score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Masters of the Universe became well-known thanks to Mattel’s toys, comic books, and the popular TV show. Since then, only two movies have been made: The Secret of the Sword and the 1987 live-action film with Dolph Lundgren as He-Man. Now, after forty years, Amazon and Mattel are taking a chance on a new live-action Masters of the Universe movie starring Galitzine as the hero, and it pays off.

After 41 reviews, the new Masters of the Universe movie currently has a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If this holds, it would be the best-rated film in the franchise, surpassing the 60% score of The Secret of the Sword. However, the original Masters of the Universe TV series (with a perfect 100% score) and the Netflix series Masters of the Universe: Revelation (95%) still rank higher.

Masters of the Universe will be released in theaters on June 5, 2026.
