Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown Addresses “Divide” With Former Costars

Karamo Brown is telling his side of the story.

After missing several events with his Queer Eye castmates – Jonathan van Ness, Tan France, Jeremiah Brent, and Antoni Porowski – due to concerns about being bullied, he recently explained more about what caused the disagreement between them.

During filming, Brown experienced repeated negative impacts from behavior that people dismissed as just being that person’s personality, instead of addressing it as unprofessional, he told People magazine.

According to Brown, problems within the group started shortly after filming began, when a castmate accused him of sexual harassment following a short-term relationship. He states that he was later found not guilty of any misconduct.

“It broke us,” he shared of the group. “We all knew the divide between us.”

The 45-year-old also explained that the tension within the original group of five—including Bobby Burke before he left after season eight and was replaced by Brent—stemmed from unkind actions by those in charge of the show and other production staff.

As he recalled a senior leader telling him, “You are not a star. I will get rid of you tomorrow.”

ITV America and Scout Productions, the companies behind the show, strongly denied Brown’s accusations, stating they were completely false.

We firmly deny claims that concerns raised during the making of Queer Eye were overlooked or not properly addressed. Throughout the show’s run, production leaders always took issues seriously and handled them effectively. We consistently created a respectful and professional work environment for everyone involved, offering ongoing training, coaching, and support to the cast, and consistently followed clear workplace policies during filming.

They also expressed their pride in the continuing legacy of Queer Eye and the strong community that the show fostered over two decades.

TopMob News has contacted ITV America, Netflix, and representatives for Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, and Bobby Berk, but hasn’t received a response.

In January, the show gained attention when Brown unexpectedly cancelled an interview with CBS Mornings, where he was supposed to appear with his co-stars to discuss the final season of the Netflix series. His assistant told the network he was concerned about being targeted for harassment.

At a separate appearance, Porowski emphasized that the group wished Brown nothing but the best.

He explained on the January 20th episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle that they were sorry he wasn’t present, but they completely supported his decision to prioritize his own well-being as a team.

Brown explained that he stopped participating in group interviews for the show after his mother overheard some of his colleagues making negative comments about him during a 2025 set visit.

He told People that the most impactful moment was seeing his mother cry. She kept saying, ‘I thought those people were your friends.’ That’s when he understood he needed to speak up about how often he’d felt excluded.

I was really relieved to hear Brown address the rumors! He didn’t name anyone specifically, but he made it perfectly clear that everything is good between him and Jonathan van Ness. It totally put an end to any talk of a feud, which was great to see.

Okay, seriously, watching Jonathan work on himself has been amazing. It’s not about showing off or anything, it’s a real, deep thing, and honestly, it’s so inspiring to see him navigating life right now. I just really respect how he’s handling everything, even if it’s all happening behind the scenes. It’s just… incredible to witness.

Karamo Brown, whose talk show was canceled in March, admitted he also played a part in the difficult relationship within the group.

He admitted that when he was hurt, he often reacted by hurting others. He understands now how his actions affected people and takes responsibility for his role in those situations.

Honestly, I really hope Brown and the rest of the cast can find a way to mend things. It would be amazing to see them all get along again, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed they can work through whatever issues they have.

He added that everyone deserves some understanding for how they acted, both individually and towards each other. We were all simply trying our best, even if it didn’t feel that way at the time, and that’s now obvious.

In January 2024, Bobby (the second person from the left in the picture) spoke about rumors of a disagreement with Tan (in the middle). This came two months after Bobby announced he was leaving Queer Eye after being on the show for eight seasons.

He told Vanity Fair that he and Tan are doing okay despite a personal issue they’ve been dealing with. He emphasized that the situation is between the two of them, completely separate from the show, and wasn’t a romantic one.

In March 2024, Tan addressed claims that he tried to get his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace Bobby on the show Queer Eye.

Okay, let’s clear something up! There was a really thorough audition process for this role – Netflix and the production team really looked at everyone. A lot of people are asking if I helped my friend get the part, and the answer is no – I didn’t even submit them! They landed the role purely on their own merit; they were simply the best fit. And to be clear, no one was pushed out to make room for them – it wasn’t that kind of situation at all.

I was honestly shocked when Sharon Osbourne shared a story on TopMob News back in September 2023! She was playing ‘Stir the Pot’ with her daughter, Kelly, and she revealed that Topher Grace from ‘That ’70s Show’ was the rudest celebrity she’d ever encountered. She didn’t hold back, calling him a “rude, rude, rude, rude little boy” and even a “dastardly little thing!” It was pretty intense to watch, and I couldn’t believe she felt so strongly.

He did not respond to her remarks publicly.

Five years ago, Sharon shared on Larry King’s show that Ashton seemed upset when he was on The Talk in 2014, after she mispronounced his name.

She remembered him asking, ‘Who are you and what have you accomplished in this business?’ She responded sharply, telling him, ‘Don’t underestimate me, because I will completely overwhelm you.’ She finished by saying, ‘You have no idea what you’re up against, young man.’

In August 2022, Cassadee Pope and Maren Morris publicly disagreed with Brittany Aldean, wife of country singer Jason Aldean. This followed a post Brittany shared on Instagram on August 23rd, where she thanked her parents for not allowing her to transition during a phase where she preferred traditionally masculine interests, stating she appreciated her feminine identity.

In a 2022 TikTok trend, JoJo Siwa called Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she’d ever met, explaining that Bure once turned down her request for a photo on the red carpet. Shortly after, Cameron Bure apologized, saying she unintentionally hurt Siwa’s feelings when she was younger and expressing her regret for not taking the picture. She said, “I feel crummy, JoJo, I’m so sorry.”

Candace and the other person resolved their differences. However, when asked months later if her network, Great American Family, would ever feature same-sex couples as the main characters in its holiday movies, she said it wouldn’t. She explained that the network would continue to focus on traditional marriage.

JoJo, who publicly shared they are part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, responded to the actress’ comment on Instagram, calling it “rude and hurtful to an entire community.”

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art for Hole in a promotional photo without proper acknowledgement. Olivia responded with a supportive message, saying, “Love u and live through this sooooo much.” Courtney then playfully replied, “Olivia – you’re welcome! My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! DM me if you want the details! I’m looking forward to reading your note [winking face emoji].”

While on the show Watch What Happens Live, the actor from Happy Days explained why he and the star of Forrest Gump didn’t get along while filming their 1989 movie, Turner & Hooch.

I directed the movie for thirteen days, and then Jeff Katzenberg, the producer, called me into his office and told me to pack up and go home, saying I had everything I needed.

Winkler and Hanks’ dog seemed to get along very well. “I really loved that dog,” Winkler said.

He also refused to admit if he’s even seen the flick.

“You know what you did!”

Anyone who watched The Hills likely remembers that famous line from Lauren, spoken at the start of season three. The drama between her and Heidi began when Heidi started dating Spencer Pratt. It reached its highest point when Lauren claimed Heidi and Spencer spread a false rumor that she’d made a sex tape with her boyfriend at the time, Jason Wahler.

Tyrese and Dwayne Johnson had a public falling out in 2017, starting with an Instagram post where Tyrese criticized Dwayne after the release of Fast & Furious 9 was delayed until April 2020. On the same day, a spin-off movie featuring Dwayne and Jason Statham was announced, set to release in 2019. Shortly after, Tyrese said he would leave Fast 9 if Dwayne was still involved.

Tyrese recently discussed the long-standing conflict with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, telling Van Lathan on The Red Pill podcast that they still haven’t spoken directly. While he did talk to one of Johnson’s producing partners, he hasn’t had a conversation with the actor himself.

Tyrese admitted he shouldn’t have publicly shared frustrations that were voiced by multiple people connected to the franchise. He explained he was the one who spoke out, and he takes responsibility for that unprofessional behavior, saying it ‘wasn’t cool’.

No more bad blood here.

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry had a long-running public disagreement, rumored to have even influenced Taylor’s song “Bad Blood.” The conflict, which began with issues over a dancer and competition during their tours, was resolved when Katy sent Taylor an olive branch as a peace offering before Taylor’s Reputation Tour began.

Taylor shared on Instagram that she found a real olive branch in her dressing room, saying it meant a lot to her.

Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

For years, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, stars of Sex and the City, successfully dismissed rumors of a disagreement. However, those rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to participate in a third movie and made some pointed remarks about her co-star.

During a September 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Sarah Jessica Parker how she felt about Kim Cattrall telling Piers Morgan they had only ever been colleagues, not friends.

She was really upset and heartbroken. She said they had talked about it all week, and she was disturbed because her memory of what happened was completely different.

It’s definitely sad, but I believe what truly connects us is the shared experience we all had. It started as a job, but over the years, it became something deeply personal. I’m hoping that those years of working on something special, and the connection we all felt, will ultimately be more memorable than any recent disagreements. It was a real privilege to be a part of something so meaningful for so long.

And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

Elton John and Madonna have been publicly disagreeing since 2004. The conflict began when Elton, while accepting an award, criticized Madonna’s live performances. He famously told the audience that he didn’t think lip-syncing qualified as a live act, and jokingly suggested anyone who lip-syncs during a paid concert deserved punishment.

The actress, formerly on Grey’s Anatomy, caused a disagreement with the show’s creator back in 2008 when she asked to no longer be considered for an Emmy Award. She explained that she didn’t believe the storylines she was given were strong enough to deserve a nomination.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE what Shonda said about Katherine! She talked to Oprah – Oprah! – on Oprah’s Next Chapter back in 2012, and she was so honest. She admitted it hurt when Katherine left, but honestly, she wasn’t totally shocked. She said, and I quote, ‘When people show you who they are, believe them.’ It’s become, like, her life motto, and she says it’s really helped her! I mean, can you even imagine Shonda and Oprah talking about this? It’s EVERYTHING.

The fight between Nicki and Cardi at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party during New York Fashion Week made headlines everywhere. A month later, Cardi publicly explained what caused the argument with Nicki.

Cardi B recently told W magazine that another person has been repeatedly criticizing her. They had talked twice before and seemed to resolve things, but the criticism continued.

The conflict really escalated when Cardi B noticed Nicki Minaj had supposedly reacted to a tweet criticizing Cardi’s parenting, though Nicki claims she didn’t actually engage with it.

Okay, so everyone thinks I’m crazy, but seriously, I was this close to making a fortune with a huge Bruno Mars tour! I gave all that up, all of it, just to be there for Kulture. She’s my everything, and I’m a really good mom, okay? It kills me that people without kids are judging me for what happened at that party. Honestly, I’m not gonna get another chance to meet an artist I love like that – not in the grocery store, not anywhere! It was a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and I wasn’t going to miss it, even if it meant some people wouldn’t understand.

The conflict between Kanye West and Taylor Swift began in 2009 when he interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. They later reconciled and became friends, but their relationship fell apart in 2016 after Kanye released his song “Famous,” which mentioned Taylor by name.

Just before the Grammys in February 2025, Kanye West began following only Taylor Swift on Instagram. He didn’t offer any explanation for this action, and Swift didn’t publicly acknowledge it.

“I don’t know her.”

The rumored rivalry between Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez began with a 2003 television interview in Germany. When asked about Jennifer Lopez, Mariah responded simply, “I don’t know her.”
