You Can Turn Off Wolverine PS5’s Blood and Gore If You Want To

Marvel’s Wolverine is looking to be Insomniac’s most violent game yet, with plenty of gore. However, players who prefer less graphic content will have the option to turn the blood effects off.

After the recent State of Play presentation, Game Director Mike Daly told IGN that the team wanted their new game to be intensely violent, staying true to the character’s portrayal in the comics and meeting fan expectations.

He also mentioned that the large amount of blood was intentional, but players who prefer less gore can activate an option to reduce the visual intensity, so Logan isn’t constantly covered in enemy remains.

He explained:

We understand this game isn’t for everyone. Because intense visuals are a significant part of it, we included an option to disable gore. This feature is carefully implemented, allowing players to selectively reduce graphic content like blood and violence to make the game more enjoyable for those who prefer a less intense experience.

Looking back, it’s funny to remember people actually wondered if Marvel’s Wolverine game would even have any violence before we saw it in action.

After watching a significant amount of gameplay, it’s obvious Insomniac didn’t hold back with the violence, and I’d agree it’s as brutally violent as Daly described.

I’m leaving the blood effects enabled – they seem essential to the game’s intended atmosphere. However, I think it’s great the developer is letting players choose whether or not to have them.

Ultimately, letting players experience the game however they prefer is a good thing.
