I’m so excited Clarkson’s Farm is back for another season! Sadly, unless you work on the show, you can’t actually visit the farm itself, but I did the next best thing – I went to Diddly Squat Farm Shop! It was great to get as close to the action as possible.
The shop, located in the Cotswolds town of Chipping Norton, began as a result of a surprisingly large potato harvest by the Diddly Squat team in 2020. They hadn’t anticipated the success that followed.
Upon realising how much could be produced from the farm, a shop was soon created.
Our mission is simple: to offer honest, high-quality food. We believe in being straightforward and letting the goodness of our ingredients – grown by good people in healthy soil – speak for itself. We hope this shines through in everything we do.
Everyone warned me to arrive at Chipping Norton as soon as it opened because of long lines. I thought arriving on a Tuesday at 9:30am – right when it opened – would avoid the crowds, but I was mistaken!
With nearly 3 million Instagram followers, it’s no surprise the shop had a long line of visitors stretching around the corner. People had come from all over the UK and Europe just to see it, making a special trip to the Cotswolds.
As you approach the shop, you’re immediately met with the vibrant colors and smells of fresh produce. Inside, you’ll find a fridge stocked with pork products and another featuring beer from Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone Brewery, along with fresh milk.
I wasn’t expecting what I found on the other side of the shop – it had a really funny, unexpected element, just like something Jeremy Clarkson would do.
There was a set of candles with a rather rude message on them – ‘This Smells Like My Bks’. I shouldn’t have smelled them, and I won’t be making that mistake again! Apparently, Jeremy Clarkson made them using wax from his own farm bees, and the scent is meant to replicate his old car seat.
I didn’t like the way the car seat smelled, so I decided not to buy it.
While wandering around the shop, I picked up a carton of chocolate milk and a bag of lightly salted chips, both made with ingredients grown right there on the farm – and it was all surprisingly affordable.
Even if you’re not there to shop, the farm’s grounds are beautiful and celebrate the Prime Video series, Clarkson’s Farm. You’ll find signs referencing the show, and there are areas where you can leave messages. However, some parts of the grounds are protected and you can’t write on them.
Right next to the shop, you’ll find an ice cream van and a bar. The bar offers a variety of drinks, including Hawkstone, and there’s a place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.
The bar also offers food, with brunch and lunch options like bacon, sausage, and fried egg buns. The egg buns are made with fresh, local eggs from Cackleberry Farm.
For lunch, you can choose from options like The Big View burger (you might recognize it from TV!) – a beef burger with onions cooked in Hawkstone lager. We also have vegetarian, plain, and sausage options available.
Honestly, I love a good trip to the farm shop. It’s just a really nice day out, whether I’m looking for some fresh, local produce or fancy a bite to eat with a beautiful view. Plus, you can bring your dog, which is a huge bonus!
Now that the first four episodes are available on Prime Video, we anticipate increased interest and likely more visitors to the farm shop this season.
With a new season underway, a controversial government budget has angered farmers across the UK, and Jeremy believes the farm needs significant adjustments to improve its efficiency.
