Okay, so a new leak just dropped and it looks like Bethesda might be announcing remasters of two games at the Xbox showcase on Sunday! As you probably know, Xbox owns Bethesda, which means any game they make is basically an Xbox game, even though Bethesda isn’t officially part of Xbox Game Studios. The interesting thing is these remasters were originally released on multiple platforms, so it’s likely these new versions will be too. Xbox has been letting some of their games come out on other consoles lately, but there’s been talk they might stop doing that. The leak doesn’t say which consoles these remasters will be on, though, which is a little frustrating!
According to Nate the Hate, a generally trustworthy source in the gaming industry, Bethesda and Xbox are planning remasters of Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. These remasters are being discussed internally as a way to refresh the story for players before the potential release of Wolfenstein 3 and an upcoming TV show adaptation. The remasters likely won’t include major gameplay changes, and honestly, the original games still hold up well. While they might feel a little outdated by 2026, they don’t really need significant improvements.
Wolfenstein 3?
It doesn’t look promising for a potential announcement of Wolfenstein 3 at the Xbox showcase this Sunday. If someone like Nate the Hate had information about the Wolfenstein remasters, he’d likely also know about a new Wolfenstein 3 reveal, if one was planned. The fact that he hasn’t mentioned it suggests there won’t be an announcement. However, this is just guessing, as Nate the Hate hasn’t addressed the topic directly.
Okay, so I’ve been playing the Wolfenstein games, and honestly, they’re way better than people give them credit for. Wolfenstein: The New Order came out in 2014 – it was a fresh start for the series after a long break. It got a 79 on Metacritic, which is decent, but I think it deserved more! Then, in 2017, they released Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and it was even better. It scored an 88, and it was easily one of my favorite games that year. Seriously, if you’re into fast-paced shooters, you should check these out.
Neither the remastered versions of the games, including Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, nor the 2019 spin-off Wolfenstein: Youngblood, will be included. This likely means The Old Blood isn’t considered essential to the main storyline, and Youngblood has been completely excluded.
